Unfortunatly I think it is just for those few shows out in IL:(
:( that's too bad. I also read that they were changing their sound and getting more serious with their music. That would be really depressing :(

does anybody else know pain? found them in 98 and ive been hooked ever since, awesome ska band... www.thepainpage.com

Anybody else heard of, or know them?

pedro durruti 12-27-2004 05:19 PM

I downloaded one of their songs, I'll listen to it right after this Streetlight song. Speaking of SM, I had a horrible dream last night. I went to their website and I was looking at the shows and they decided to finish their tour in California and to not go to the Northwest or any of Europe or Canada. I cried for six hours, at least
I saw Bad Manners on TV last night, and I remember how I missed them playing here the Thursday before last :upset: If the show cost less than £16 to go to, I would've gone!
Before the recent rekindled interest in two-tone bands, Bad Manners used to play at a local pub here about once a month. The silly thing is, I never once got off my arse to go seem em. Now I'm sorry.

skamusic1 12-28-2004 10:18 PM

was ryan eldred the original singer of cacth 22..i dont think he was but id like to know who the original one was

the-UK-ska-scene 12-31-2004 03:10 PM

Yeah I think he was, he was one of the founding members of the band. So I think originally he sang, and then obviously Tomas came and went for Keasbey Nights.

Man, I loved Big D... but thank god you came along and let me know they were garbage. Thats certaintly all I needed to hear. Who is this Real Big Fish.... Oh, I mean Reel Big Fish. Man that name is so clever. Do they sing the music that makes me want to run in place... errrrr.... I mean skank? Cause I love to do that. If it werent for skank music I would never get any excersize. You know what I like. You. And your post. But you more. You know, why? Do ya? Because you made a claim then didn't support it. I love that. I just want to believe you. Believe you because I like you. Wink. or wait. *wink* Yeah. Thats better. So. Im me sometime. Cause I know well be great friends. I just know it. i mean. I already Like you. :) <-see? Well. gtg, bye!

sweboy 01-03-2005 09:31 AM

Kithkin, you should really consider giving up drinking.

the-UK-ska-scene 01-03-2005 11:06 AM
SPLITTERS 3rd ALBUM OUT NOW!!!
Yay you guys really should listen this is one great UK band right here :D

Kith, that was harsh, harsh but fair ;) A little over the top... But yeah I think when you sort out the little drinking problem everything will be ok.

Also I've heard 2 amazing bits of news, apparently Howards Alias are playing at a ska festival in Knoxville, Tennessee (sp?) on April 30th, so possibly more dates in the works there. Those are the guys who live near me... Actually at the moment I keep seeing them at shows... Go out to see them if you can, they're an awesome band.

There's another cool UK ska/punk/rockabilly band The Hitchers is playing some of Warped tour, apparently, so check them out as well. :thumb:

pedro durruti 01-03-2005 03:26 PM

Howards Alias is going to tour the US?

the-UK-ska-scene 01-03-2005 03:36 PM

That's what I said. You can laugh at Nick and his tight t shirts just like we did. And you can stand at the front and have Matt put his face 5cm in front of yours because you're not smiling... Like I did.

for all you 3rd wave kiddies out there, this translates to Reel Big Fish sucks, and Big D doesn't.

the middle translates to: Doing the ska/Dancing > Skanking.

the ending is just blatent ownage.

Well... the mad caddies... assuming that your name derives from real caddies and not the mad kind...

DekWannaBFlea 01-05-2005 02:51 AM

Man i love Reel Big Fish's first album, that is my only exposure to Ska. Do you know of any bands that are a lot like them?

Clive Staples 01-05-2005 03:50 AM

I really like Five Iron Frenzy even though they are a dead band now. Check out my friends band when you have a chance. He plays piano driven stuff, but he's a big fan of ska. www.purevolume.com/musicgoon

Suburban Legends are a lot like them, with the whole ska/hair metal/punk type thing going down. And SL are cheesy as well :D
Jaya the Cat - This band doesn't get enough mention in other forums. Thankfully Swede and I have this place pretty much covered. I don't really know what it is about them. Their lyrics are really good, but other than that, all the music is pretty simple. It just sounds so good together. They are probably my third favorite band on here. I'll give you God and State ACE but seriously, check out more stuff by them.

Jaya the Cat is my favorite band of all time. Would you, by any chance now where i could find bass tabs for their songs, other than wilderness?

Whosoever Will 01-05-2005 10:41 PM

This band is great!!!

Check out this ska band. Their music is at www.purevolume.com/skuf All you ska heads should love it. Peace!!!!!
Yeah I think he was, he was one of the founding members of the band. So I think originally he sang, and then obviously Tomas came and went for Keasbey Nights.
Umm... Excuse me but was Keasby Nights not the first CD put out by Catch 22? I was under the impression that Thomas was the first singer. Granted I don't know what the band was up to prior to Keasby Nights, so pardon my ignorance if I am completely out of the loop.

But regardless Thomas Kalnoky is God

There is too much hate going on on this forum too. The Big D comment was pointless and granted Reel Big Fish aren't the best ska band out there, but I prefer to celebrate all things ska... including skanking as you might be able to pick up.

sketchyjoe 01-06-2005 07:57 AM

You guys should try Ska Cubano. I made a thread about them in Punk. Ska with a heavy latin influence. Good stuff.
