Capdown = best band in the world
Less Than Jake = ****iest band that people call ska
Post= +

sweboy 11-28-2004 02:33 PM

So has anyone of you ska-people heard of the bands "Dog Almighty" and "USCB Allstars"? They're both straight out of Sweden, the first one from my own town.
Capdown = best band in the world
Hehe. Umm. No :)

I haven't heard them, Swedish Boy... Any links to their sites/sites that host their MP3s?

Missed seeing Suicide Machines last night :( I was down at Brighton, and they were playing there last night, but I had to go home before they played. Dammit. Really awesome bill, too. Grrrr.

pedro durruti 11-29-2004 07:01 PM

I need ska show!

the-UK-ska-scene 12-01-2004 09:47 AM

I know what you mean, dude. I saw some pop-punk/post-hardcore type bands last night, and they were awesome they really were, but I kept just thinking how much fun I have at ska shows and I need another one.

Luckily it's Capdown in about a week or so. Need to get a ticket.

pedro durruti 12-01-2004 11:59 PM

I've checked a site for my local scene several times and I haven't seen any ska shows for at least a few months. Thank god for Ska is Dead :D

burton.and.gas 12-02-2004 03:41 PM

thsi is a good list, u have meainly kept to ska-punk/ska-core but ist still cool.

pedro durruti 12-03-2004 06:46 PM

Anyone have albums on Soulseek from Undercover S.K.A. and Punch the Clown?

the-UK-ska-scene 12-05-2004 08:21 AM

I got this EP of a UK band called APB the other day. I'll put a track or two up for download on my site, they're good, you should hear them.

I'm going to make a UK ska comp for my friend for Christmas, so I'm in the process of ripping more UK ska if anyone's interested.
The Blue Meanies - A sick sick band. Unfortunatly... I do not think they are still together because I can't find a website for the life of me. Kiss Your *** Goodbye is a fucking crazy album. Imagine polka and ska and techno synth speed horns. Confused? Here, 4 songs (already uploaded them;)) Vote No ACE, Grandma Shampoo ACE, Johnny Morgage ACE, Tread ACE. Their other albums aren't (in my opinion) nearly as good as KYAG, but full throttle is often listed as their groundbreaking work. So if you like these songs, get Full Throttle and decide for yourself. EXTRA SONG: acceleration 5000

So I checked this band out and I really really liked it. :thumb: I downloaded full throttle and liked it, then I downloaded KYAG and liked that too.
Turns out this band is still together. I think that they may have just reunited or something. They're playing a snow in chicago sort of soon. Sadly, they say that they're changing the music, or something of that sort, which is too bad. I'd love to see them in concert, but I can't. Oh well.

A Brain On Ska 12-12-2004 08:24 PM

What kind of amp do you have TheFitz? and what kind of guitar?

LifeIsDandy 12-18-2004 11:29 PM

just go to a show.

Toasters or Slackers or Madness or Hepcat or something if you want to learn to do the ska properly, or some 3rd wave band if you want to learn the weird ska-on-crack skank.

The Specials arn't on here because everyone already knows who they are. RBF and LTJ arn't on here because in the grand scheme of things, they arn't *that* good.

hehe, I love the ska-on-crack skank. Unforunately I don't think a two tone or trad band has been to Portland for some time so I don't even know how to do the traditional skank

As far as I know, the more trad you go, the less your legs move... And the more your arms move... Or something like that. Some kids round here do it, I did it specially at a Chris Murray show, but I think I prefer the ska-on-crack skank anyways cus I move easier that way.

I saw Bad Manners on TV last night, and I remember how I missed them playing here the Thursday before last :upset: If the show cost less than £16 to go to, I would've gone!

On a happier note, I bought Mu330 - Winter Wonderland yesterday for £5, it's so damn festive even a scrooge like me can't help but think Christmas is ok :thumb:

1. P2P Network. 2. I believe it was some kind of gangster at some point, now a term describing fans and m musicians alike. 3. The Ska Man is a generic Rude Boy. And he is cool.

And he was based off an early picture of Peter Tosh from the cover of "The Wailing Wailers" S/T (The band Bob Marley came from)

And drawn by Jerry Dammers

And I dress like him.
