Aw man, the ska surgery was OLD SKOOL. I used to dig the adverts you had all the way up Camden tube. I was well looking forward to it at the Ballroom (right) when I moved up, unfortunately it stoppped just short of my time. Is this SkaBeatPete posting? Cus I know he DJs sometimes at nights Steve puts on in Shoreditch, and they're just awesome. Hella jealous.

uk ska scene - yeah shame about the Ballroom it was just costing too much. We are currently looking for a new venue around that area or the West End. SkaBeatPete is still posting all over the place but not here and yes he's playing the Ska Nights gigs. WE'LL BE BACK ;-)

Bah, this thread predates their thread by 6 months and the posters are far more hardcore.

This thread alone is more punk than the entire punk forum.

So yeah, we had to do a project on a subculture or counterculture in Sociology and I picked Rude Boys.:) Mine was pretty good, I got an A. And everyone was all like "WTF are Rude Boys??!1!!"

Adequate 7's last London gig on Saturday was pretty epic.

I got to see both Adequate Seven's last London show AND Slackers on Saturday night, good evening's entertainment. It was too hot to dance for the whole set of Slackers, though, which was a mighty shame!

I've been listening to quite a lot of Ska lately, it's not my type of music or at least I thought so....but I'm enjoying it as for late. I only have the discography or almost the discopgraphies of Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, RX Bandits and Goldfinger but that's about it. Shortlist for me so far is:
The King Blues - Under The Fog
Skylar - S/T Re-release
Sonic Boom Six - The Ruff Guide To Genre Terrorism
Babyboom - EP (not an album but whatever)
The Aggrolites - S/T (everyone hates it but it's got some choons!)

Also these will probably be in there when they're released (going on tracks I've already heard from them):
Suicide Bid - The Rot Stops Here
Catch-It Kebabs - Return Of The Kebabulance
and I haven't heard The BiG's album but I reckon I'll like it
haven't heard Slackers new one either but it's not gonna be bad! Live stuff's ace

Big D and the Kids Table have an album sampler track on their myspace for their new album that comes out January 2007.

Are they going to play ska-punk again?
I rushed out and bought their rare dub ep, but to be honest I was very disappointed.

Yeah i heard some songs off that ep and it kind of blew. The sampler shows some stuff similar of that of How it goes and Good Luck but I have a feeling it wont be as good, but decent none the less.

God, those are two amazing albums... How It Goes and Good Luck... I can listen to them nonstop.

No albums shine out to me for ska this year. I havent really listened to those bands much that you mentioned. Catch 22's was pretty good, Rx Bandits was good and Bomb The Music Industry was good even though it was my first exposure to him.

Only the drums and bass were recorded live. The vocals and horns were recorded over that. It sounds great.

My short list has:

ASOB - Three Cheers for Dissapointment
SB6 - The Ruff Guide to Genre Terrorism

Because I can't remember any other albums that came out this year...

BTMI doesn't make it on because there's no point in having two albums by Jeff on the list and 3CfD is better than GCW.
