Ah. In pop punk i have JESS's LOCAL BAND OF THE WEEK.
you should check it out.

Kithkin 09-06-2006 07:35 PM

I thought your avatar flashed Hearts and Horns... but it doesn't:(

sketchyjoe 09-06-2006 07:46 PM

I actually saw a Skemo band once.

They sucked balls.

Catchthe22 09-07-2006 11:56 AM

I could imagine.

Kithkin 09-07-2006 04:23 PM

The only good skemo band is The Impossibles, but they make the entire genre worthwhile.

the-UK-ska-scene 09-07-2006 05:22 PM

I have an Impossibles CD but I've never listened to it. Which skemo band did you see joe? I had to review the Sonic Boom Six CD for Rancid News this morning whilst in a somewhat hungover state....Blah I probably didn't do it justice.

So much good stuff coming up.....
King Blues are playing tomorrow but I'm not going (!! shock horror)
Ska/punk alldayer on Saturday, some well bad bands like Fandangle are playing, but also some awesome bands like Breakneck and my mate's new band FreeFallFelix (check them out they're gonna be safe http://www.myspace.com/freefallfelix)
Mumrah and Big Hand playing with a couple of my mates' bands on Sunday
[You Me And The Atom Bomb on Monday but this isn't a ska show]
Aggrolites with The King Blues and the Meow Meows on Tuesday in Brighton....mission but it should be worth it!
Then on Wednesday I might go see FreeFallFelix again or I might be heading to see Aggrolites again in London if they're awesome in Brighton

.......So basically anyone who's in London/Brighton should come out to these shows

Saw Stza Crack again on Monday with The King Blues, I thought Stza was pretty cool actually but he rambled too much. He came on really late and everyone had pretty much left, haha. Everyone else hated him. He totally shut down my friend who got onstage to sing along, I felt kinda bad for him cus he loves all LoC/CV stuff. King Blues played a blinder, haha, poor Stza having to follow them!

Kithkin 09-08-2006 05:25 PM

I'm tired of hating you, so

Freefallfelix are very good, though the vocal distortion is a bit weird. And their myspace page is annoying.

Go see The Aggrolites. They are incredible. Love them.

pedro durruti 09-10-2006 05:25 PM

There was a local skemo band back in Portland, and they were ****ing ****

Kithkin 09-11-2006 01:01 PM

High School Football Heroes broke up because they spent 5 years in debt and no label would touch their music.

http://www.myspace.com/hsfh

Reading the last blog post is like reading a story you know won't end well:(

Jas 09-11-2006 07:48 PM
Chief Libido
Argh, Chief Libidio are teh suck, they aren't skemo they're like Drive Thru pop-punk + horns. But it's ok cus now they split and formed FreeFallFelix :D

Yeah Kith let's be friends, eh :) haha

SailAway 09-12-2006 06:05 AM

As far as ska goes I'm quite the fan of RBF. I just love the comedic edge they put on almost everything.

Catchthe22 09-12-2006 10:44 AM

RBF is a good time. Aaronn and Scott have some good chemistry on stage.

Jas 09-14-2006 09:24 AM

Oh god, Aggrolites were SO GOOD I went to see them twice.

Rawb 09-14-2006 10:07 AM

Quick!

I need 5 top ska albums, from 5 different ska bands, NOW.

...Please?

Catchthe22 09-14-2006 11:27 PM

Ummmm You will need more than just mine to make a good decision

Keasbey Nights - Catch 22
Everything Goes Numb - Streetlight Manifesto
Turn Off The Radio - Reel Big Fish
The Specials - The Specials
Resignation - Rx Bandits(more personal choice)

Rawb 09-15-2006 07:41 AM

Thanks Catch.

I have Streetlight's EGV and Keasby Nights. I've heard Rx's old stuff, I've heard of Fish and the Specials. I'll definitely check them out.

Ok, now do you know any ska albums that are more like The English Beat? Like more two tone, or whatever its called?

Thanks again.

sweboy 09-15-2006 07:59 AM

The Specials are the fathers, mothers and kings of two tone/second wave ska. Check them out for sure. Then there's also for example The Selecter and Madness.

Kithkin 09-15-2006 02:15 PM

The Toasters are my favorite 2-Tone band. And they still tour, which is always a plus. Mark Foggo's Skasters have a great sound.

My top 5 the bands' albums

The Flatliners - Destroy to Create
The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - 3 Cheers for Dissapointment
The Impossibles - Anthology
The Toasters - Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down
The Hippos - Heads are Gonna Roll

Jessizzle 09-16-2006 08:47 AM

I would like to say, i am offically better than all of you

Prince Buster with (Leon) Delroy Williams & The Lynn Taitt Band.

Special Guest: Willi Williams & SKRATCH3 @The Phoenix Concert Theatre. 410 Sherbourne St., Toronto.

Wednesday, November 8th 2006.

Master of Ceremony will be Tony Barnes with DJ Chocolate on the wheels of steel.

Anticipate a scintillatingly dynamite performance.

Come and experience the foundation of ska. Come and do the rocksteady and have a roots, rockin good time with Prince Buster as he performs such classics as Oh Carolina, Madness, Judge Dread, Al Capone, Freezing Up Orange Street and Ten Commandments, just to name a few.

This is a show you cannot miss. A ska rocking time for all.

also that month
AAA, THE KNOWHOW, THE FLATLINERs, TIME AGAIN.. in one show
then.. THE TOASTERs.
omg. i could of like died and gone to heaven.

Kithkin 09-16-2006 05:34 PM

:(

I found a new (to me) band. Female fronted jersey ska.

I could go see The Slackers on tuesday, but my friends won't go, and it is a bit expensive.
I could go see The Slackers on tuesday, but my friends won't go, and it is a bit expensive.
Definitely go. The Slackers are amazing. Definitely one of my favorite ska bands ever. The most talented current ska band, IMO.

Catchthe22 09-17-2006 03:15 AM

That Hippos album(heads are gonna roll) is really good. I must try and get that again.
