Actually, it either came out a few days ago or will come out in a few days. I saw them on Monday and they were ridiculous. I wasn't too impressed with the new album the first few times I listened to it, but the songs came off really well live. I was drenched with sweat on the 5 block walk back. They only play a few songs off of progress, so if that's all you know it's going to be mostly new music. The rest of the set was split between The Resignation and the new album. If they're playing with Men Women and Children, there might be an awesome druming display. |
after reading the site again it says that they are selling it on tour and on the website (i dont see it) but that it will be in stores in the fall.
Fishbone – They sometimes play ska. Usually they play so many genres that you can’t define what they are. Very talented and diverse. They've drifted from ska since their earlier stuff into more experimental and varied stuff, but its all very good. You can watch a video for their cover of sublime’s date rape on their myspace assuming it works on your computer…
that video was pretty cool. Does anyone have anymore info on the humble actress in the video? |
My friend has a Fishbone hat. He stapled a box to it and made it into a tv. Here's said contraption:

That's a little odd.

Does anyone know where i can find a download of hopskotch - farse? Apparantly a really good song but it barely exists on the internet! Even a reliable site to listen to it would be great. Hope you guys can help you seem to know the ska scene pretty well

I saw them this past Monday night and the show was really flipping sweet. Men Women and Children were surprisingly good live (although I don't really enjoy the stuff I downloaded) and RX Bandits were amazing. The Drum display was crazy and went on forever. The show I went to was the last one they were all doing on the tour and it seemed like they didn't want it to end. |
I saw Streetlight manifesto last night, hollly ****. amazing. i remember thinking, they sound exactly the same as recorded, maybe even better, which is guess is rare.
and Reel big Fish needs to relize no one likes their new album, and should stop playing it. Everytime they played a new song, everyone just started chanting BEER. it was great. |

How about you wait a while you might not have to relive the old days anymore Hey PaintJessGreen, I reckon their new album ain't all that bad. I mean, Cheer Up! was just dire, things could only get better. It's reminiscent of older stuff in places. If anyone near me had chanted Beer at any point during the show, I would've punched them. Hard. |
Don't they play anything from Half between here and there? That's the only one I got and I actually like it a lot. The other Rx Bandits I've heard from other albums didn't seem as ska. |
RXBANDITS: Progress has ska on it. Resignation is a lot of progressive rock except the song Overcome is ska/reggae. But if you like progressive/alternative I would really recommend getting that album.
REELBIGFISH: I would enjoy hearing some songs off their newest album. The Fire, Say Goodbye, and for some reason I think Revolution would be a fun clap along song. And yes Cheer Up isnt very good. STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO: Ive heard the new songs were good. Can I get another confirmation on this PaintJessGreen? |
Oh so eeefffin good.

Sonic Boom Six's new album is so good.

Here's a video: http://www.farse.co.uk/video/hopskotch.mpeg That isn't the best Farse song I think. |
Streetlight Manifesto's new songs were pretty good. They played two of them when I saw them last week. Great show.

Wow, i haven't been here in ages... I tend to forget about forums i've joined... So anyway here goes...
Does anyone know where i can find a download of hopskotch - farse? Apparantly a really good song but it barely exists on the internet! Even a reliable site to listen to it would be great. Hope you guys can help you seem to know the ska scene pretty well
I'm sure you know that Farse has broken up... If you go to their website at http://www.farse.co.uk/ you can download about half of the music in their music section (include Hopskotch)...
Streetlight is a live band which means they either sound the same or better live than on cd... Its hard for me to believe that RBF needs to realize that nobody likes their new album cause it hadn't been released yet... Even so it just them playing their old songs live, with a few exceptions... I'd like to go off and rant about why i'm dissapointed in what you said about RBF but i'll save it for another day or just not say anything... I saw the same show (i think) with Transition, WWB, Streetlight, RBF, and MxPx... Heres how it went down for me, not that you care... This show show ties for the best show i've ever been too... The bands didn't follow the schedual and played at different times than the sign said, but it was for the best... My night went as followed... Before the show while i was waiting in line i met Aaron Barrett which was really cool... When i got inside i met Aaron Abraham who is one of the coolest people i've met... WWB was supposed to open (which i didn't understand) but Transition ended up opening... I didn't really like them but one of my old friends from the last school i went to, was touring with them and played guitar for them on the last song... Transition played for 30 long boring minutes... WWB come on next and things got crazy... The split the club in half (i think its called the wall of death but i'm not sure), everyone that came for a ska show was on one side and everyone that came for a punk show was on the other side and there was a gap in the middle... When the started their next song both sides just ran into each other and it was sweet... WWB played for 30 minutes (although the second band was supposed to play 40)... Streetlight came up after WWB and played like 3 long songs... I knew 1 of them (they tied two songs together into one song) and had never heard the other two... It wasn't that crazy cause everyone was singing along instead of dancing/ moshing and i was honestly a little dissapointed... Streetlight played for 30 minutes (the third band had 45 minutes to play but Streetlight didn't use all all 45)... Reel Big Fish played next and were the obvious favorite of everyone... I don't think i've ever had as good of a time at a concert than when RBF were playing... My friend and I tore the place up with some people... People were skanking everywhere and well i can't really explain how amazing it was... The only problem was that everyone was drenched with sweat after like the first song so it got slippery but it was still amazing... Several people passed out/ fainted after RBF played which sorta scary but they got better fast... RBF instead of playing 1 hr played for 2 hrs... It was crazy... MxPx played last and weren't that good... About half of the people left after RBF so it was sorta empty... My friend and I had some fun moshing around when you couldn't really mosh to the songs... The only reason why i said this show tied for the best ever is cause MxPx was a huge let down... MxPx only played for like an hour or so, but they took requests and played some of their older better stuff... After the first two MxPx songs my friend left and i had some fun with some people i met there... I also chilled with Delano Bonner for a song which was pretty cool... Hey Kithkin when did SBS release a new album? |
The Boom err released their new album....Err I think on the 3rd of July. I remember I was at a Babyboom show on the 2nd July and they were pre-selling them. Hey I did an interview with Barney the other day, I might get round to uploading some mp3s of that onto here. It's all transcribed and will be in the next issue of PunkerMentality zine. I bought the new Boom album last Saturday, but haven't got round to listening to it yet!
|
What is Babyboom. Do they have something to do with SB6?
The new album is good. It isn't quite as perfect as sounds to consume, but I can't not love them. |
I think I may prefer the new album. Nah maybe I'm just being crazy. It's good though!
Babyboom is an acoustic side project of Sonic Boom Six, with exactly the same members. They've been covering Northern Skies as part of their set lately. I love Babyboom, I prefer them over Sonic Boom Six (but big Boom are awesome too!). "Babyboom started… obviously it started as a side project of Sonic Boom Six. It started because Ben and Laila wanted to do some acoustic sets, and this is when Ben still played the saxophone but Ben’s a songwriter, and Ben wrote a few songs he wanted him and Laila to go do some acoustic sets at pubs and bars etc." "Laila thought of the name Babyboom so it seemed appropriate to distinguish between acoustic Sonic Boom Six and electric Sonic Boom Six." -ugly unedited interview, but yeah that's what Babyboom basically is in Barney's own words. Here's their stuff for your listening pleasure, although you should really buy it. Please. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=DE23185854737B5A |
I'll put it on the list of cds to buy when I get a real job.
Meaning, every cd in my ska folder that is a) still in print and b) I've listened to more than 4 times. I sent out like 7 resumes this week. More going out this week. I had an interview on Friday to be a copy editor. |
I'll put it on the list of cds to buy when I get a real job.
I have the same list... Mine is soo long cause i don't like having one song from a cd, i need the entire cd cause i don't like the way it looks in itunes... |
I know what you mean.
|
The other day i saw Catch 22, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Big D (with some other bands) and it was amazing... I thought RBF and Streetlight were better but it was still amazing...
I also just found out that the Toasters, Big D, and the Pietasters are playing a Halloween show in my area :D |
Skalloween is the best holiday.
Somebody changed the title of this thread... |
I was just about to comment on that.
I've had a well nice weekend. Good Clean Fun/The Steal/Mike Park/Chief on Friday Lightyear/The King Blues/Adequate Seven/The Steal/Grown At Home yesterday The King Blues today I wish I could go to the King Blues/Mike Park show at Brighton tomorrow, but it's a mission, and I have work. Boo. |
I was just about to comment on that.
I've had a well nice weekend.
That sounds like a blast, lucky you... Question, i know i may have brought this up a long time ago, but does anyone know anything about My Dad Is Big besides the fact they broke up? Like how many people were in the band and what not? |
