The new album is better than Dinosaur Sounds...
It just came into the station today. I'm giving it a listen now.

profesorfrink 06-14-2006 02:28 PM
Really? That's surprising.

I downloaded A Call To Arms today by Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. It's good.
yeah and it came out a while ago, theres supposed to be a new CD by botar soon, not sure when though.

Kithkin 06-14-2006 09:48 PM

In better music news, BTMI - Goodbye Cool World
I found this track lying around on my computer, a song that I had finished for the album but I was kinda putting to the side 'cause I wasn't sure how to **** with it... anyway, I found the file yesterday and decided to record on top of it. There was no click track so the tempos were a little weird, and also I couldn't make beats for it. After the demo sounded WAY too out of time, I decided to re-record it with a ukelele covering the main guitar part. The drums on this are a laundry bin, a set of keys and a bag of pasta being smashed against a box of Couscous.
Yeah, they said they were coming out with a new album sometime in 2006. Hopefully soon.

Yeah, I'd say so. Just 11 tracks is a little disappointing though.

Yeah I heard Streetlight is also trying to throw an album out this year sometime. Hopefully that's true, and hopefully it's soon.

Ahh, going to see Streetlight on July 29th. And more recent Catch 22 on July 15th.

Holy Crap they're good.

Catchthe22 06-18-2006 09:57 AM

I recommend people to check out the Bomb the Music Industry tour with The Fad. The band im in opened for The Fad and Stuck Lucky(playing the tour in Nashville, july 5) and they were both amazing.

Kithkin 06-18-2006 12:14 PM

Yeah, the Fad are really good, and Jeff is friends with the group, so you can expect something special on tour.

http://www.myspace.com/thefad

In fact, every band on BTMI and ASOB's top 8 friends on myspace is a great band.

sweboy 06-19-2006 01:49 PM

Goodbye Cool World!

Jeff - God.

Black Ink 06-20-2006 09:28 AM

I found the "4-track adventures of venice shoreline chris" by Chris Murray in the station today. Very tasty.

thunderzstruck 06-20-2006 09:36 PM

so on august 6th me and three friends just bought the tickets to see reel big fish with streetlight manifesto. I have heard some from both but this is my first ska concert. What should I expect or anyone else going to the same tour as me?

I'm also seeing RBF and Streetlight on August 6th. Are you by any chance attending the show in Omaha?

FauxApathy 06-20-2006 10:04 PM

I'm seeing them on august 8th.

I've seen a few ska bands play, but only at warped, this'll be the first actual ska concert persay. From what I saw at warped... It's pretty much just like a punk concert but with less moshing and more actual dancing/skanking.

thunderzstruck 06-20-2006 10:32 PM

no, its the one in minneapolis, minnesota at the quest club
it says omaha is on the 4th..

I would probably expect this show to be pretty packed, since it's Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. Also I'd expect lots of people skanking so I hope you know how.

asdf 06-21-2006 12:20 AM

I saw Les Claypool at Bonnaroo and one song he played was Madness - One Step Beyond. It was awesome.

Yeah, I'm going on the 29th(July).

Should be a kick-*** concert. Expect that. lol

I recently joined a ska band. I'm a guitarist in it. What do I do on stage? I've never been i a non-metal band before so I dont really know what the difference is when it comes to stage presence. any advice would be greatly apprectiated, Thanks

Play your songs.:p

slit_21 06-22-2006 11:52 AM

I planned on that lol. To put on a good show what should I do?

bassguy123 06-22-2006 12:00 PM

act like a goof. less than jake puts on great live shows and they just run around and shoot toilet-paper out of leaf blowers.

Ghostfire3 06-22-2006 05:24 PM

Yeah, I would advise you not to do that because Less Than Jake sucks, so...

Catchthe22 06-22-2006 06:31 PM

-Well LTJ sucks now at least

-Streetlight Manifesto and RBF concert... If I were you I would listen to their stuff(SM only has 1 album) as much as you can before the concert because the best songs at concerts are the ones you know. Unless you are a huge fan and then the new songs are the best hopefully. Be ready to dance for 3 hours and be blown away by how much fun it is. Ska concerts usually will bring a wide variety of people, especially with Streetlight as one of the bands.

-Being in a ska band doesnt mean you do anything special on stage really. If your music is happy you can be goofy with your guitar strumming. If your music is more punkish you can throw in your hardcore/metal moves. Usually just fit in with your music but either way it comes down to the songs and how you approach the crowd with your chatting. Here is a video of Reel Big Fish playing The Fire on a show. Aaron Barrett is a top notch guitar player for the 3rd wave. He has a good style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYVp9w4bzl0

thunderzstruck 06-22-2006 09:43 PM

yeah i have been downloading a lot of reel big fish and have been listening to everything goes numb almost non stop lately (i love that album)

Catchthe22 06-27-2006 04:18 PM

ska has been ostrisized for the past 5 for some reason. :(

Kithkin 06-28-2006 10:00 AM

Zappa 06-28-2006 10:11 AM
