Sweet, thanks :thumb:

sweboy 09-29-2004 01:45 PM

So does anyone agree on that ASOB totally owns the third-wave scene?

the-UK-ska-scene 09-29-2004 02:16 PM

... Yes?

Well, maybe.

ASOB is awesome, for sure, but there's so many good bands.

skadudejeff 09-30-2004 06:11 PM

another band you forgot is THE FLAMINGOS. If you wanna see them just click here http://www.ctska.com/

Amazing work Kithkin :thumb:

Jonny 10-01-2004 09:52 AM

I think Less Than Jake might be going more Ska-y again. Listen to Sleep It Off, Bridge and Tunnel Authority, Nine-One-One to Anyone, Robots One, Humans Zero and National Anthem off their Anthem B-Sides album.

Theyve even got the Ska guitar in some of the songs, which is cool.

Tizzle 10-03-2004 11:18 PM

quick question, did Big D and the Kids Table do a cover of The Rudiments Wailing Paddle??? Cause I downloaded that song but it said Big D, so did they or is kazaa lite a lying little whore

the-UK-ska-scene 10-04-2004 12:37 PM

Nope, Big D did indeed cover that song, it's on the Gipsy Hill LP (the weaker album I have, IMO).

MILF Hunter 10-04-2004 03:43 PM

Anyone like Judge Dread? I got like 5 of his albums now, absolutely hilarious

WorkingClassHero 10-05-2004 02:09 AM

Id have to describe them as hilarious too, but perhaps not for the same reasons... Ive just never gotten over the picture i saw of him, fat, corpulent, long haired but balding old white man. I cant listen to his music. Its sort of the same with UB40, all 1980s haircuts and bad clothes...

MILF Hunter 10-05-2004 01:12 PM

Hahahah. C'mon man! hes funny!

"Old mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to get the poor doggy a bone, but when she bent down the dog came around and he gave her a bone of his own!"

Yeah, and a fat, balding long haired bloke sang that. Gross...
Do you like any first wave?
I ****ing love first wave, better than 3rd or Two Tone. I like rocksteady, skinhead reggae, reggae, roots, if its before the disgusting dancehall phenomenon chances are i at least dont mind it. Heres some bands, although i couldnt make a list of favourites;
Toots and the Maytals
The Pioneers
The Paragons
Justin Hinds and the Dominoes
Jimmy Cliff (a real legend)
Desmond Dekker and the Aces

And some modern bands that make trad music;
The Slackers
Mobtown
Hepcat
The Allstonians
The Adjusters
The Articles
The Skalars
... and many more...

And for the guy who wanted two tone bands, these guys dont get much aireing so they may be new to you...
The Piranhas
The Untouchables
The Lambrettas (poison ivy, you probably know)

pedro durruti 10-06-2004 03:33 PM

Working Class hero... if you have soulseek tell me your name, I really want to download some more trad and two tone

WorkingClassHero 10-07-2004 01:17 AM

Dont got it boy. Just search for it, itll be there. Its massive popular.

pedro durruti 10-08-2004 12:08 AM

Really? I searched some of those new trad bands and two tone bands and didn't get any more then like four files

WorkingClassHero 10-10-2004 07:32 AM

Oh yeah, searching for the new trad bands you will, quite frankly die on your arse (there all complete no-names). The only one i can see you finding is Hepcat...

But Two Tone, did you try Madness and the Specials? Theyre both pretty big bands. Maybe not in the US though...

pedro durruti 10-10-2004 01:39 PM

I already know about the bigger two tone bands like The Specials and English Beat, I was looking for more of the ones you mentioned and I actually found some songs from: The Lambrettas, The Skalars, The Allstonians, The Adjusters

WorkingClassHero 10-10-2004 09:43 PM

Oh, ok then. I dont have the program anyway, haha. Go with the Adjusters, they have a website you can find on google with MP3s, theyre my favourite.

PoisonParadox 11-04-2004 04:11 PM

Ska and rockabilly?

CUt heRE 11-05-2004 01:15 AM

Hey, has anyone picked up the Mojo magazine special about The Specials, Madness, and ska? It came out like since August but I just noticed it last week. It is SUCH a good mag, haven't had time to read it all, but I love it so far.

I wish my friends liked ska... I was at a friend's house and put a Madness cd on. After a few songs, they rejected it and had to change the cd. They told me they "got scared". Plus, they called it "gypsy music" and "techno-funk", their exact words. Wtf, man... That's it, when I go to college, I'm going somewhere with a good ska scene.

EddieTrooper 11-06-2004 04:27 AM

wtf man!?!?!?!....you can't leave out reel big fish!

Yeah, got it. It is pretty awesome.

And i think Ska and Rockabilly isnt too bad a combination...

sweboy 11-06-2004 08:30 AM

Does anyone know where I can find the BOTAR mp3's? The links on their site don't seem to work.

EDIT: Never mind, got them.

Daniel! 11-06-2004 06:31 PM

this is the greatest thing i have ever found on this site

SloppyJoeSka 11-09-2004 11:19 AM

Bro! Darest you not even mention Mephiskapheles?! How about SKA-P? Can't exclude satanic ska or ska en espanol.

SloppyJoeSka 11-09-2004 11:21 AM

Also, none of the pages can be found. I wanted to hear those Big D songs along with some others like Tripple A (which by the way was one of the most kick-*** bands live) and to my dismay...404. (tear)
