Kith, I know.

sketchyjoe, yeah man I was SOAKED, I got out of the crowd and straightaway was freezing it was gross. I was right at the front in the middle, I don't know if you were anywhere round there. I ache so bad today.
I was around there. It was like dancing in a sauna. My jeans chafed so badly on the walk home.

Kithkin 11-15-2005 09:47 AM

Thats why I never go to shows in jeans;)

pedro durruti 11-15-2005 01:43 PM

Whenever I wear shorts to a show, it always feels like the stuff in my pocket is going to fall out

the-UK-ska-scene 11-15-2005 02:38 PM

I went to the show in jeans, but it was only really my top half that got sweaty for some reason! I had to have all my money + my phone in my pocket the whole time  cus the cloakroom wasn't open so I left my bag in the corner of the bar hoping it wouldn't be stolen....& it wasn't!

Speaking of all-ska bills (or ska bands touring with semi-ska bands....Or bands that are mildly related to ska or play ska songs playing together), I've gone to some awesome ones :p Rx Bandits/Howards Alias/Desa/Blame It On Edd // Rx Bandits/Chris Murray // Chris Murray/Sadies Doll/Zen Baseballbat/Smoke Like A Fish/Catch-It Kebabs // Reel Big Fish/Fandangle (ew) // Howards Alias/NoComply/Mighty Snortin' Powder Rangers/Harpoon Larsen // Mighty Snortin' Powder Rangers/Wiservice/The Racketeers // Adequate Seven/The Filaments/Sonic Boom Six // Capdown/Adequate Seven // Capdown/3DayBenda // Lightyear/Gameshow Host/Captain Everything! pedro durruti 11-15-2005 02:56 PM

thanks

Kithkin 11-16-2005 12:53 PM

Theory.

They're walking basslines. Just know your scales and keys and play a bunch of 3rd and 5ths and few 7ths...

Catch 22's Walking Away, aside from the intro, is an improved bassline in the key of A# major using roots at A#, C , D# and F.

R_buckley87 11-16-2005 02:06 PM

thanks man... any other suggestions for songs?

lessthanjackie22 11-16-2005 05:56 PM

Damn your lucky. They play at your school. What the hell, Streetlight never comes to my damn school.

pedro durruti 11-16-2005 07:11 PM

Did Streetlight go there when they were in high school?

lessthanjackie22 11-16-2005 07:29 PM
Did Streetlight go there when they were in high school?
i don't understand ur question but the old members of catch 22 grew up near new brunswick and the first streetlight show @ rutgers
thanks man... any other suggestions for songs?
Pretty much anything by Operation Ivy is pretty simple. Unity's bassline is pretty good, so is Sound System.

Other stuff by catch 22 is pretty good. It's mostly major songs. The outro to 1234 1234 is another good bassline.

Reel Big Fish - Beer or She has a Girlfriend Now

If you want really basic ska baselines, then go with the Planet Smashers - Coolest Guy in the Whole World or Explosive or anything else. Their stuff is stupidly simple.

Hey guys I'm trying to find some pretty rare ska albums which neither play.com, bittorrent, ares, my local independant cd shop or anywhere else seem to have. So is there any chance someone could MSN messenger them to me or something? Sorry if I shouldn't be asking in this thread, please don't get mad! :(

Anyway, they're:
Forces of Evil- Friend or Foe (I already bought this once but my sister broke it :upset: )
The Hippos- Forget the World (Been searching for it for like 3 years)
Lightyear- Call of the Weasel Clan (Impossible to track down)

pedro durruti 11-19-2005 01:09 AM

Soulseek! http://www.slsknet.org/download.html

I have Friend or Foe and a Lightyear album, but not that one. So if you get Soulseek you can get anything from me, my name is International War Criminal (name has to be exact)

I love both bands. They both kick a'ss. Should be a good show.

Kithkin 11-19-2005 01:37 AM

Lightyear I can sort of understand... but if you haven't been able to find the Hippos or Forces of Evil then you haven't been looking very hard.

I already bought Forces of Evil once though. Don't wanna buy it again. And I can find the second Hippos album (Heads are gonna roll) fairly easily, but I've already got it.

I could try Soulseek, but I'm not sure how it works- I gave it a try yesterday and didn't find anything.

PM used to have FoE as well but no more I guess. They also have another Hippos album but not the one you want.

EURGH I have the detoxes so bad I can hardly type, wish I hadn't been drinking whiskey last night :upset:

Saw Streetlight with Skylar on Thursday :D Was AWESOME. Truly. WOW. Loved it.

Seeing Pickled Dick tonight up the road. SHIP AHOY.....hahaha no really I'm sure they have more than one song.....

Jonny 11-19-2005 05:29 AM

Ok thanks everybody! I've actually found them on Soulseek. I should use it more often...

What reason I'm where?

Time 11-19-2005 01:28 PM

where are The Specials??!!

asdf 11-19-2005 02:49 PM

Wow, I just looked at the first page of this thread for the first time in a long time. Why aren't the specials mentioned? That's a little silly.

It's also crazy that you put up me talking about the local band "the cheapskates" when they don't exist anymore, and have a better band. Also my sound files for them don't even work anymore.

Kithkin 11-19-2005 03:51 PM

I haven't updated the first page in a long while.

And the front page is pretty much all third wave bands. That's why there are no specials.

That makes sense. Still, you might want to delete the cheapskates off the front page.

And I just found out their second band just broke up a week ago or so. :(

Jonny 11-20-2005 08:58 AM

Also, [Spunge] is misspelled in the first post.
