Never heard of them... In my opinion local bands always preform better live than big name bands... |

i think its true in almost all cases

Most = Almost All |
burn
|
lol, wasnt meant to be a burn, just what i thought the definition of "most" was...
|
I understand when ppl hear like Reel Big FIsh and Aquabats and dont like it...BUt once u hear old Catch 22 and Streetlight, theres no going back
I always thought the exact opposite. I had a few of my friends who had very little knowledge of ska listen to The Aquabats, and they all seemed to enjoy it. As for Reel Big Fish, they're a decent third wave band, but often times once people hear that, they start looking deeper for better bands in the same genre, such as older Catcher 22. That's just my opinion though  |

haha well burn was kind of a joke, i havent seriously said it in years...but in a way it was kind of serious but oh well i just confused myself... |
Chill... There are a lot of huge or big bands that sound incredible live... Green Day, The Offspring, and Funeral For A Friend... To name a few...
But then again, a lot of bands suck a lot live: Blink 182 (i still think they are insainly talented but Tom just can't sing live) and I dont think My Chemical Romance or Fall Out Boy sing well live either... Most does not = Almost All... |
here I'll look up the OFFICIAL def of most. Most - 1.Greatest in number.
2. Greatest in amount, extent, or degree. So yes, most does pretty much mean almost all. And its ok Hitharddrums, I confuse myself all the time... |

Yeh, I agree most ppl hear aquabats and RBF first, and most are then hooked. I'm talking about the ppl that firmly hate ska FROM listening to those two bands, but then they hear Streetlight, Catch, BotAR and change their view. I hope u can understand that, cause it does look kinda confusing |
Big ska bands aren't usually fun live. Mostly because they pack the house and there's no room to dance.

Oh so true. Local Ontario ska is my favourite genre! |
Adequate 7 are the greatest brass driven band I've ever heard/seen/met.
Big ska bands aren't usually fun live. Mostly because they pack the house and there's no room to dance.
That's very true. I saw Reel Big Fish and there were a load of Pop-Punk fags like pushing and screaming and stuff, and all the ska fans were just there for a good skank. |
Heh, well here pretty much every ska band isn't that big. Actually, this seems to be changing.. Streetlight was pretty crowded, now granted I was able to skank every now and then, but when I did there wasn't a lot of room. When I saw the Aquabats back in June there was no room at all. On the other hand, I saw Suicide Machines and there was plenty of room.
By the way, Slow Gherkin rules. |

I understand. If people don't enjoy pop punk, and they hear band like Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake, they will automatically turn away from the entire ska genre. The reason why they hear those bands first though is simply because they're most popular, while the "better" ska bands hardly get any mention. Yet what is considered "better" ska is merely a matter of opinion. If people were exposed to several bands from the different waves, they would be more likely to enjoy ska. Unfortunatley this doesn't usually happen, and ska is overlooked.
Big ska bands aren't usually fun live. Mostly because they pack the house and there's no room to dance.
I'll agree with this. I went to an Aquabats concert this summer, and while the show was amazing, the place was backed and there was very little room to speak of, and The Aquabats are hardly the most popular band. Kids were simply jumping around and pushing each other, and those who really enjoyed the music had zero room to skank. On the other hand entirely, when I went to the Ska Is Dead Tour in September, there was a much smaller crowd, and the bands did a great job of helping the audience interact. Everyone was able to skank with plenty of room, and it was much more enjoyable. |

Catch 22 is always fun live... And i missed the apparent "best show ever" w/ the Aquabats... And well honestly i've never seen a ska show where there isnt room to dance... |

Catch 22 is amazing... I really want to see them again... |

im seeing the Selecter next week
i can tell youre all jealous |
So, people, what's the deal with Keasby Night 2 anyway? I heard that someone broke into their van and stole all their stuff, so I suppose that this would delay everything. And if I'm not mistaken, they're out on tour at the moment. But is there no information at all about the new album?

No one in punk believed me. BUT My friend said his friend found some leaked songs from keasbynights two.. I know nothing for fact.. Just there is claims that it has been leaked. |
Oh so true.
Local Ontario ska is my favourite genre!
Word. Also, General Rudie + tiny venue + even smaller crowd = best concert I have ever been to. There was tons of room to dance, and so the skankin' never ended. The One Night Band and local band the Donuts also played. |
I wish General Rudie would come to the US.
