Streetlight and early Catch 22 are included with Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution.
Check out The Too Toos, it's ages since I listened to them and they're not exactly screamo-ska but they might be slightly what you're looking for.
Thats sorta what im looking for... I was thinking more along the lines of like From First To Last + Catch 22 = Screamo-Ska... Or simply put Screamo with horns.. But the only reason i was wondering is cause Screamo and Ska are 2 of my 4 favorite genres right now.. In other news we are trying to get permission to skate on our school campus (i go to a quaker private school and they arent that into the idea)... They said they wanted to see us be more active (its funny cause we are the most active club in the school) and they said a band would be a good way to do it... So i am now one of 2 bassists/ 2 trumpeters in "The Skate Club Band"... We are gonna play some ska along with some punkish stuff and some indie stuff... |
ska and screamo would sound like crap together, no offense
and you have a skate club at your school? thats amazing! |
That is pretty crazy. The name of my name lol(Few Dollars More) is my ska band. I'm lead guitar and maybe vocals right now. We still need to get all the horns though...too bad most of my school hates ska...
|
Still don't get how u can hate ska, its so fun
|
i concur...and surf rock is fun too...and rockabilly....i dont see how ANYBODY can hate these 3 styles...theyre all fun and make me happy :)
|
lol yeah, surf rock is pretty fun too. I hate the people that dont even giv ska and stuff a chance.....ignorant ppl are annoying
|
i need some more surf rock..im in love with that Dick Dale song...i think its called Miserlou...it's from Pulp Fiction i think...im not much into those type of movies, but the songs sweet! the living end are a good surfy-punk/pop band
a lot of australian ska bands ive heard are good too |
It doesnt suprise me how many people dont like ska... At first glance a lot of the music doesnt sound that good and it takes some getting used too...
Hahaha... Did anyone here know Gwar had a ska song? |
No i didnt...and yeh I understand when ppl hear like Reel Big FIsh and Aquabats and dont like it...BUt once u hear old Catch 22 and Streetlight, theres no going back
|
i think either aquabats or rx bandits were my first ska band...streetlight manifesto is good too i like them a lot and BotAR is sick
|
No i didnt...and yeh I understand when ppl hear like Reel Big FIsh and Aquabats and dont like it...BUt once u hear old Catch 22 and Streetlight, theres no going back
I dunno... There are a lot of big ska bands that i dont like at all (Reel Big Fish)... I try to stick to Catch22, Streetlight, Smoke Like A Fish, Aquabats, My Dad is Big, and other small ska bands... For a while the only ska band I knew was Catch 22... I didnt know about Streetlight till i was searching music.download.com for some ska music and they just happened to turn up... |
Yeh, its true Streetlight is relatively new...But they r just so damn good BotAR is pretty kik *** too, ill agree with that...
|

|
Use correct spelling or don't come back.
And who are the Big? Real Big Fish? Abbreviate that RBF.
The Big are one of the UK's top ska bands, who are on tour right now.. |

|
Hey guys.
Little bit of an update: I missed the Ska is Dead tour due to my school schedule being hectic. I also missed Big D and the Kids Table so I'm uber :upset: But I did get a radio show like planned. I do the show with my friend and we rotate songs. I play a lot of ska so if anyone wants to listen we're on Tuesdays 2-4 (Eastern time) and you can go to www.wvof.org and listen to the FM webstream. Enjoy. |
Yeh I missed ska is dead too, I have seen it the past couple years but I'm kind of tied up aswell, so I missed it...

 You guys I don't see the big deal, I could read that perfectly fine. I missed the C*E!/NoComply gig at London because I don't like NoComply much, it's a shame I didn't know The Big were supporting cus I definitely would've gone if I knew they were! However I might be seeing Captain Everything! on Sunday at my friend's Uni, and I will be seeing The Big at the Xmas Ska Explosion at Camden in December. It's such a shame they can't record as they're awesome :upset: |
Why can't they record?
I've never heard of the Big, and what with the other problems with the series of exclamations, I assumed it was simply an abbreviation. |
Weellllll I can't remember all the details but through the fuzzy haze of pre-gig banter we had ... 3 months ago (so this is a very fuzzy haze) I think it was something like, the bassist of The Big also plays for The Beat, so he has contractual obligations to them meaning that his record company won't let him record with any other bands. The buggers.
|
Anyone listen to a ska band from Vancouver called the Karmakanix? They're really sweet, and I'm seeing them for the second time next weekend.
|
That's a strange contract...
Let that be a lesson, read contracts and don't let them put in stupid, pointless limitations like that. |

Why must people antagonise me when I'm being nice?! Do to others as you would have done unto you and all that guys. Be nice.
