They are funny live but the music they play is pretty sucky.

Kithkin 08-11-2005 12:13 PM

Yeah, like the River City Rebels, they are a band I would probaby go see but not really listen to any other time.

They are incredibly fun in concert. But yes, I agree, not something I've listened to outside of the concert I saw.

pedro durruti 08-12-2005 03:13 PM

I like two of their albums. I can't remember them ever playing any songs from those albums though

TampaPunk 08-12-2005 05:21 PM

I can't find Cheap Suits stuff anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seen em live a handful of times, I reget not picking up a cd.
I love the song Ska Saves.

the-UK-ska-scene 08-14-2005 09:24 AM

I saw The Klopeks again yesterday, I didn't like them last time I saw them but I really did this time. They play dark rock'n'roll/ska/pirate/other music, and they are really very good and also funny. I will upload some of their stuff sometimes. I also saw The Lock Up again, and they really are an amazing band. I can't wait for their album to be recorded. Also the Catch-It Kebabs' new stuff is immense, I can't wait for their new album either. It's going to be just brilliant.

I'm going to that tour when it comes to Sarnia on the 1st. My friends' band is added to the bill for that one night only. It's pretty sweet because they are just getting off of a mini-tour of their own which ends here in Sarnia on the 31st so we have a weekend of ska set up here.

Over The Top?
The over the top mini tour was soupposed to stop at Ajax, but it got messed up and theyre not anymore.

Leftover Jello 08-19-2005 05:44 PM

I think that Fishbone are playing at Hempfest on sunday. I don't listen to them much, but I'll probably go because I have nothing better to do and it's free.

Leftover Jello 08-19-2005 05:48 PM
Woooooooooooooooooooooooo Streetlight Manifesto are coming here on September 17th. I am so glad because they haven't been here since last August
You inspired me to look, and they are playing here on the 16th. haha I get to see them a day before you!

Yep, Over The Top. I was supposed to go with them on their tour as I normally go to just about every show with them out of town but my work schedule wouldn't allow it. :(
If you can get to Toronto you should check them out on the 30th. They're pretty tight live and put on a good show as do the other bands on the tour.

andyhainey 08-20-2005 07:11 AM

any1 like less than jake, they r a good ska band, they are genuine

Oh how I would love to see them, with the knockouts right? but, I work Tuesdays.. Alex, from OTT I think he told me that they were playing the Ajax date for the 27th, I guess He, ( or I) was mistaken.

sweboy 08-20-2005 09:36 AM

Oh yeah, 1000 posts in the ska thread!

Jessizzle 08-20-2005 09:59 AM

I'm not sure who they are playing with.

It was probably Alex who was mistaken. They only had 3 or 4 dates confirmed until last week when the rest fell into place. I'm pretty sure they were trying to get the Ajax show but I guess it didn't go through.

Kithkin 08-21-2005 07:14 AM

I was just watching the first season of the Shield. In the season finale they played a Jaya the Cat song. It was obviously the most awsome event in television history.

sketchyjoe 08-21-2005 07:23 AM

The Shield is cool.

sweboy 08-21-2005 08:42 AM

What the funk is The Shield?

Kithkin 08-21-2005 08:51 AM

Its a cop show on Fx. It's like NYPD blue only... you know... good.

sketchyjoe 08-21-2005 09:33 AM

Vic kicks arse.

mosaic 08-21-2005 12:57 PM

sweboy 08-21-2005 01:21 PM

Has anyone else noticed that the Manifesto used this chord progression all the time?

10---5---7---3-5-

In like every song. What's up with that?

Leftover Jello 08-21-2005 11:50 PM

Yo Ihatecelebrities,
I think that I'm going to skip the slm show in Seattle and go see the one in Portland, so maybe I'll see you there. (Because my mom wants me to start visiting colleges, so I'm going to visit Reed and then go to the show)

Ps. Do you know where it is?

Weezerfan_returns 08-22-2005 12:36 AM

Great job with the suicide machines...who kick ***. But you only gave a sample to Your Silence, which isn't a ska song at all. anyone who hasn't heard them (living under a rock?) check out New Girl, Did You ever Get a Feeling of Dread, or the kick *** Vans Song.

Not yet, they've posted info on every show of their tour except the Portland one. But last year they played at the New Paris Theatre, so they'll probably play there or at the Loveland.

I checked kingbanana.net and it looks like they're playing at New Paris Theatre for $8. If you know where Burnside is it's pretty easy to find, right next to the bridge on I think 2nd. What's your real name?

Yeah, but when I wrote it, that was the only song I could find for free download by them. I took it over nothing.

I saw them in concert in April I think it was. I think they're still touring.

Pie Tasters are coming by Hartford again and Big D and the Kids Table is opening for them so since I missed Big D when I missed Warped I'm definitly checking out that show. That and my girlfriend loves the Pie Tasters.
