I almost slipped

Finally, some shows to look forward to this summer. The Slackers in a week (I'm still uncertain if I should go.. considering I won't be able to get in), the Aquabats with the Epoxies and the Phenomenauts (who are really good live) and The Suicide Machines in August.

the-UK-ska-scene 06-18-2005 04:22 AM

Yeah the summer is looking pretty awesome for me too, well there's a few good'uns in July:

8th - Howards Alias/Sonic Boom Six/Vanilla Pod/Grown At Home (though I don't think I can go to this as Vallely's having another birthday party on the beach  )
10th - Chris Murray/Zen Baseballbat/Catch-It Kebabs/Sadie's Doll
23rd - Splitters/Catch-It Kebabs/The Scrub/The Junglists/The Lock Up/Midnight Crazies/Captain Hotknives (amazing line-up by Alex, of course)
28th - Pama International/Catch-It Kebabs/The Scrub
31st - Kenisia/Mouthwash/The Wayriders/The Fat Cats/Two Day Rule/Catch-It Kebabs/The Outer Limits

That's just the ones I have planned so far. There are also a good few in August I plan to attend, another amazing line-up by Alex, should be ace, and also my mate's bands playing some stuff, and other gigs I don't know about yet...

And of course there's Reading in August, which shows a distinct lack of ska but these are the bands I plan on seeing at the moment:

Dropkick Murphys, Transplants, Foo Fighters, Incubus, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, LCD Soundsystem, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Capdown, The Explosion, NoComply, Queens Of The Stone Age, Roots Manuva, Simple Plan, Funeral For A Friend, Turbonegro, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, My Chemical Romance, Death From Above 1979, The Dead 60's, yourcodenameis:milo, Hot Hot Heat, Willy Mason, Iron Maiden, Million Dead, Emanuel and Senses Fail

Also I've decided I need to see Captain Everything! again soon, as I miss them so much. It's been nearly 2 years since I saw them last :upset:

It might be time for a new avatar.

Oh. My. God. You've had that old avatar since I got here

Maybe I shall change mine to copy Kiths. About time the ska sect showed some unity

Kithkin 06-23-2005 11:51 AM

Fair enough.

Got the zine. Its big and largely unread:)

the-UK-ska-scene 06-23-2005 12:27 PM

Let me know what you think of it when you have read it! That fat bastard cost me over £3 to post  thats $5.5 of your US dollars. Hope you liked the free stuff, whatever it was that I chucked in, I can't for the life of me remember  Yeah but definitely let me know what you think. I'll be very interested to hear. Number 2 is going together at some point in the future, looks like the launch gig will be a wicked little number at Underworld in Camden on 17th August, I'll post the line-up closer to the date in case any of you want to come.

Unseen2k0 06-23-2005 02:25 PM

BOTAR and SM are both recording this summer. That is always good news.

Does anyone know where I could find General Rudie CDs?

pedro durruti 06-23-2005 05:34 PM

If you mean mp3s, I have two. My name is PETEY on Soulseek. If you mean actual CDs, try Amazon

I don't think anyone outside of the band knows.

RCVA 06-25-2005 07:10 AM

The Specials!!

sketchyjoe 06-25-2005 07:51 AM

Calm down.

Unseen2k0 06-25-2005 11:13 AM
I don't think anyone outside of the band knows.
They said there are no numbers, and no orginal material. Some theories are this:
-They will add to every song(ie Point/Keasbey/Counter) or something.
-They will play songs Tomas wrote a long time ago for Catch 22/BOTAR.

Either way, they have us in mind and say they are doing it to make sure we don't spend money that we don't have to.

TAND 06-25-2005 10:54 PM

It should be good no matter what.

pedro durruti 06-26-2005 01:42 AM

Holy crap Westbound Train are playing here next week and it's at a Pub, so I'm assuming it's another 21+ show. I'm going to kill myself

HTLSM 06-26-2005 04:04 PM

what about Streetlight Manifesto?
and there is a sweet band I voted for Kodos

Listening to Sublime's Tribute album

Fishbone's cover of Daterape is crazy. The only special part of What I Got is Gift of Gab's new verse. Ozomatli's cover of April 29th is pretty damn good. Mike Watt's cover was dissapointing. Avail sound like any punk band would covering Santeria, which is a shame. Pennwise's cover of Same in the End suffers from the same thing. Some of the covers are of songs I don't know and the rest are rather boring, partly because I don't like Sublime's dub/ska work (feels too much like jam band stuff) nearly as much as their skapunk stuff.

CombatRock 06-26-2005 11:44 PM

anyone heard Faboulus Rudies, there preety good i saw them at the Warped Tour.

pedro durruti 06-27-2005 11:16 AM

I was going to go to Seattle to catch The Slackers show and my mom actually was going to let me and she would have come with me. But my dad was being a douche and didn't want to spend our points to get a free stay in a hotel that night so we couldn't go

asdf 06-27-2005 12:06 PM

The aquabats play in Detroit on the 6th and Chicago on the 7th, and world/inferno friendship society plays in Chicago on the 10th. I'd love to see both of these bands!

LTJ386 06-27-2005 09:12 PM

I just listened to Reel Big Fish's new album, and it's pretty good. It's got a lot more ska than Cheer Up.

I would kill to see WIFS.

Yeah, that's the concert I want to see more. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to either, but if I see any, it'll be the aquabats, because I've got some friends that want to go too.

Leftover Jello 06-28-2005 12:55 PM

I saw the Slackers play last night, it was awesome. All the other bands kind of sucked but the Slackers were great. And lucky me there are a few more ska shows coming up in the next few weeks.

Good band. I think they are french though.

Skapunk. Good vocals, quick, pretty interesting melodies.

puredemocracy 07-01-2005 10:42 AM

You did pretty good with most of the information of the bands. I do wish the specials were mentioned more, but it's cool. I think choking victim are good, regardless of the bad quality recordings and bad music. But they explain why I also like crass. haha.

puredemocracy 07-01-2005 10:43 AM

hey! you're going to warped tour in boston? ****, I don't know if I can go. No job.
