I can't wait that long.
Can someone explain to me what Keasby Nights 2 is?
In the liner notes of the BOTAR CD, it says:
On The Horizon
Streetlight Manifesto - The ------- Diaries
The second of the three K. Nights chapters. It's been a while, but it's finally underway. In this episode, we see a little bit of the old, a little bit of the new.
Don't know how accurate it is though, seeing as the other releases they proposed haven't materialised yet.

And also, didn't the BOTAR CD come out before the Streetlight CD? So this CD they are referring to could actually be the last Streetlight CD. Eh, we'll see.

As for rumours on whether it's a Keasbey re-release, I've heard so many either way I just don't care any more. If it's a Keasbey re-release, then have no doubt Streetlight could do it better (or at least just as good) but what's the point? They could write their own stuff that's just as amazing (or more so). But anything they release will be gratefully lapped up by me.

Kithkin 05-27-2005 11:57 AM

Long before the Streetlight CD

Your Botar cd has liners? Mine just came with the cover and a bunch of stickers:(

I wouldn't mind seeing Keasby Nights given the treatment Hey Sergio got. I would obviously rather see new material, but they took Sergio and made it significantly better with the addition of one fairly simple verse.

You do have to remember that there were a lot of years between Keasby Nights and Streetlight/Botar. Since Everything Went Numb they've been touring and training new band members. It may take him a long time to write new songs and I don't think he will release anything until he thinks its perfect, which is a good thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release an album that is part redone Catch 22 songs and songs Botar had that didn't make the demo. That way its something new to most of us, and something old.

the-UK-ska-scene 05-27-2005 12:47 PM

Apparently all the songs were penned a good few months ago. So the hold up is just probably down to how much time they will take recording/mixing with all the instruments, and whether they have a break from touring that long.

Keasbey Nights (the song) is so fresh and alive again when Streetlight plays it, they would make a heck of a job with a re-do of the CD. I wouldn't mind them sprucing up some Rules Of The Game stuff, maybe, give it the Streetlight makeover.

I don't have the CD for BOTAR, fucking this is nigh on impossible to get hold of, seriously. But I do have all the original art and casing, due to the wonder that is the internet. I'll forward you the g-g-g-gmails with it all in now. The art is amazing. Tomas is, absolutely, amazing.

whatthedeath?!? 05-27-2005 08:22 PM

Wait...I was given a copy of a song my friend called Keasby Nights (live) and he said it was by Catch 22.

it is?

Big D tomorrow, baby! anyone going?
Wait...I was given a copy of a song my friend called Keasby Nights (live) and he said it was by Catch 22.
The song was originally done by Catch 22 and Catch 22's singer is the Streetlight Manifesto singer. He has an attachment to the sounds and lyrics from Catch 22's album Keasbey Nights, and shows that attachment in Streetlight and BOTAR songs

sketchyjoe 05-29-2005 10:41 AM

But SLM play Keasbey Nights live as part of Point/Counterpoint.

Kithkin 06-01-2005 11:26 AM

I don't think I've ever felt more out of place.

I'm 22. All the kids were in high school.

It was also the strangest show I've been to. A ska band. An emo/hiphop band. An all black pop-punk band and an indy pop band.

I finally got a SM shirt though:

I think I'm going to try to make a botar shirt using these images:

Nice. I should be getting a Common Rider shirt pretty soon. Peter those pictures would make a sweet shirt

Oh yeah. The Slackers are coming here on the 24th, and it's 21+. There one of ym favorite bands and my first chance to see them for like a year is ruined because of alcohol!!

Kithkin 06-02-2005 12:33 AM

Thank you Peter.

A lot of the more traditional bands do 21+ shows.

They don't draw much of an underage crowd and people don't like to drink when there are a bunch of highschoolers around. The only way a club will book a band to play an all ages show is if they have a big enough draw to fill the club.

That said, I've never been to a 21+ show with a big headliner.

pedro durruti 06-02-2005 12:39 AM

Haha, do you think if I get a hold of someone in The Slackers I can get them to let me pretend to be a roadie?

Kithkin 06-02-2005 01:06 AM

It couldn't hurt...

At the very least you could implore them to come back for an all ages show.

Was that a play on a Streetlight song?

Kithkin 06-03-2005 12:34 AM

Ha, no... I didn't even think about that.

Catch 22 with thomas > Streetlight.

mshort813 06-04-2005 09:44 PM

I was reading this review of Streetlight Manifesto and some guy called Thomas "a disgrace to the music scene." and he went on to rant about how Thomas is the worst thing to happen to music and he can't write or sing for his life.

wtf

farkster 06-05-2005 02:12 AM

I love the slackers- "Keep him away" is awesome- Does anyone know of anything that sounds simillar that i'd like?

---btw that first post was really usefull for someone just getting into ska cheers kithkin--

Kithkin 06-05-2005 03:33 AM

New York Ska Jazz Ensamble
The Toasters
Chris Murray
The Pietasters
Jump with Joey
Hepcat

and more

pedro durruti 06-05-2005 10:19 PM

Haha some lameass coffee commercial uses Our House in their commercials

Kithkin 06-05-2005 10:32 PM

Maxwell House?

That makes some sense. I've known that song for a very long time, didn't know it was a Madness song until recently though.

pedro durruti 06-05-2005 10:36 PM

I hate coffee!

Kithkin 06-05-2005 10:38 PM

Thats silly. Coffee comes in as many flavors as... well... I guess Kool Aid?

I don't know. I don't drink much coffee, but I know there are a lot of different levels. Stop discriminating against beverage races! Thats not what ska is about!

pedro durruti 06-05-2005 11:12 PM

Oh man, you're right. I gotta keep it two-tone

Kithkin 06-05-2005 11:30 PM

Damn straight.

I'm so two tone, I chase my black coffee with white cream!

the-UK-ska-scene 06-06-2005 06:10 AM

Ahh, there's this song for this REALLY ANNOYING magazine (one of those crappy womens magazines) on TV called "Full House" and Madness have re-recorded Our House, so it's "Full House"...... I was like "YOU SELL OUTS " although I'm not sure I'm allowed to say that seeing as they're old.

On the subject of coffee, I'm afraid I have to join the rebel side of hating coffee. And tea... Sorry. :upset:

sketchyjoe 06-06-2005 03:52 PM

They slaughtered that song.

pedro durruti 06-07-2005 01:17 AM

There are two shows on Thursday. Help me choose which one to go to

Nothing Wasted

-Christian (The bad kind I think)
-Cheaper than Fishbone- $8

VS.

Fishbone/Slightly Stoopid

-$15!!
-Not Christian

sweboy 06-07-2005 04:25 AM

Slightly Stoopid are the shit. Fishbone are sweet too, so I would so go to that one, since I haven't even heard of Nothing Wasted.
