Banyan

Tell me about this group. It's a "supergroup" made up of bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen), Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction drummer) and trumpeter Willie Waldman. (Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur).

Are they any good? It's an interesting mix I must say.

Never heard of them until this thread but it sounds like a pretty awesome group!

They came to my town awhile back but it was 18+ but I heard they are pretty good. Intense live show I've heard.

Anxious 10-28-2005 06:00 PM

I keep hearing things about them, but I never got around to listening to them.

Mike Watt you say? Hmm... :chinstrokingemoticon:

I didn't know Nels Cline played guitar for Wilco.

/thought he was a solo artist

This is the same for me. They really sound like a band I could really like, yet I haven't looked much further into the band.

I never knew you liked Mike Watt.

Well, Nels plays on Mike Watt's Contemplating the Engine Room, so we have an idea of what that part of the band probably sort of sounds like. Perkins is a really good drummer, so it probably works nicely.

I'll have to hear.

On that note, anyone heard Dos? It's Mike Watt and Kira(not sure who she is) playing bass with her doing most of the singing.

Yes I have, Kira is his ex wife and was a member of Black Flag.

Anything with Mike Watt has to be good, unless I've been fooled.

br3ad_man 10-29-2005 07:32 PM

I don't know if YDload would agree with that.

:p

Obviously his moment of towering achievement is "Providence".

THURSTON, DID YOU THROW AWAY THE ****?

Yeah, they are really great. Kira has a nice voice, which surprised me at first. She should have sung in Black Flag.

That song cracks me up every time.
