Grand Magus, Hail!

Come one and come all, let me introduce you to the living wonder that is:
Grand Magus

Magus are a trio hailing from sunny Stockholm and consist of:
JB - Lead Vocals + Guitar
Fox - Backing vocals + bass
Trisse - Drums.

Genre: Essentially rock, but with a very heavy Blues influence

Releases: They have two full length releases under their belt, 2002's "Grand Magus" and 2004's "Monument" and a third, “Wolf’s Return”, planned for release this year.

Grand Magus: This is their debut, and best effort to date. On this album you have your conventional rock sound but with a heavy blues influence incorporated into it rather fantastically. The songs are of decent length, simple and just brilliant. Every song features fantastic riffage, contagious hooks, and clean, soaring vocals and great solos. There is seriously nothing you can dislike about this album.
This album has a very stripped down and raw sound, the overdubs themselves barely amounting to four or five in the entirety of the album.

Monument: This is their second effort, and whilst it doesn’t mach up to their debut it is by no means a bad album. It has the same basics as their S/T but it generally has a darker feel to it.
Also some of the songs tend towards an epic frame of mind, occasionally stretching up to nine/ten minutes.
The album also loses the raw feel of the first one, with the production being of better quality and with the addition of overdubs and so on.

Enjoy :)

I bump my thread, for the benefit of Beaz and hopefully to gain some more attention.

Hopefully certain Mods will let this slide

Bartender 04-18-2005 10:47 AM

I thought this had gotten more posts than this.

EDIT: New song, eh. *downloads*

Six Foot Revolver 04-18-2005 10:47 AM

You shall have my attention seeing that this thread was the influence for my Wildheart, Muse and (shit) Primus thread :thumb:

I love threads that incorporate the use of brain cells and require a lot of effort by the threadstarter to upload songs for us to listen to.

I am very sad that I missed this thread the first time around for some particular reason :(

EDIT: Oh, I think I know why... I was home for Spring Break during these days, and my connection at home was crapping out and I wanted to wait until I got back to uni, and I guess I forgot about them :-\

:chug: @ munky for the awesome thread

I appreciate any replies :)

thickasabrick 04-18-2005 02:23 PM

I don't mind this band, they've got great music. I don't really like the vocals though, I think their singer needs to have a really high pitched voice, instead of a low, angry voice.

Shattered_Future 04-18-2005 02:27 PM

^ i think the dudes voice connects with the music extra well...

First time ive ever heard of this band. I should be going out to buy some of their stuff soon.

I love how they have the bluesy side of the music.

I quite like his voice, though it is pretty deep.
I think it's just because it's so powerful.

Yay! Replies :)

3rdplanet 04-18-2005 03:55 PM

These guys play some great music, I only saw the thread after the yousendits expired last time, so I downloaded some stuff and it was great.

Gonna download these songs when I have finished uploading some shizzle of my own.

munky_magik 04-18-2005 05:13 PM
