This morning I was violently sick. That means "I vomited violently", for those among you who talk distorted english.
Us skips usually just say something like "Tossed your cookies", or "Parked the tiger", or sometimes just a simple old "Had a yak".

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-12-2005 03:35 AM

Do we? :-/

Trigger_003 12-12-2005 03:40 AM

That one does... :p
Poor Moaner :(. Hope you're feeling better/go well with your exam

How'd your concert go Gav? What'd you play?
Here's that song... it's not as amazing as it was made out to be. More an acoustic version of One that gradually progresses into an interesting version of Take 5, but hey, it's okay.

I played Kerin Bailey's reflection and Chopin's Nocturne In Gm (37/1).

'Twas good. I got great comments like "expert control of dynamics" and "rubato rivalled only by the pros" :p.

What have you been up to? Get back on MSN .

KKKKKocaine 12-12-2005 07:41 AM

AES and Trigger
Do you have any idea how to make the search function in php-nuke...useful?

I'm using it for the venue listing, so an example venue might be

Country: UK
County: West Yorkshire
Location: Leeds

Venue Name : Josephs Well
Band Size: Medium , Large

Address: 87 whatever blah blah blah

Comments: e.t.c.

Now with the current search I can only bring that file up provided the keywords I type in follow each other immeadiately and in that order on the same line.
So 'Leeds West Yorkshire' = Nothing
'West Yorkshire Medium' brings up nothing.

Which pretty much ruins it for me as I really need the user to be able to do a search like.

'UK West Yorkshire Leeds Medium'
So they get all venues suited to medium sized bands within leeds in west yorkshire UK.
The PHP-nuke homesite search can handle this but mine can't.
I downloaded a couple of insite google searches but the first one didn't explain how to install it and the second worked but apparantly I was in breach of googles terms of service so it gave me an error page.
Any ideas?

I'm going back to bed. :(

Do you get to retake it when you're better?

moaner 12-12-2005 01:27 PM

no, but apparently I didn't make enough mistakes to lose any marks.

Just then I went for a slash but when i pressed the flush button my eyes blanked out and i felt hot and dizzy so i sat on the floor where it was colder and calmed down.

If that happens again I'm seeing a doctor.

Cheer up kid because,

A. You could've fallen, hit your head on the toilet bowl and been knocked unconcious on the floor with your weiner in your hand.

B. Band-101 is about 1 day off release, (Even less if I get the search function sorted) When it's ready I'll need you to resubmit your review into the php-nuke area of the site if that's ok, as you'll need to put in the html for your paypal account for donations. (Plus if you submit it to the site rather than me, then you get points in your account which brings you closer to being entitled to 'band of the week' inwhich your contributions are rewarded with a link to your bands site, or music site with a description and a streaming mp3 of one of your tracks on the main page for 1 week)

Moaner: I just blacked out...
Moaners Dad: Of course you did son, sit down, let's have a little chat.

I've avoided my parents having a 'little chat' with me due to the fact that my mum went through one of my desk drawers a few days ago looking for a nail clipper.
The same drawer that happens to have 76 condoms in, numerous packets of flavoured lubricant and some latex gloves.. :smoke:

I just opened the stat analyser for the website  in the last two days I've accessed the site about 3000+ times :P and I'm not even gonna bother working out what the other 30+ tables means.
There's a pie chart though, which is always reassuring.

I'm also worried as hell, I keep on checking the bandwidth useage, at the moment I can spare 3Gigs a day. So far I've used about 10mb just by myself hehe.

Edit: 7000 posts

Aes820 12-12-2005 03:31 PM

I'm sorry KKKKK, but I'll be little help when it comes to php.
Trea may be able to help out tho.

Trigger_003 12-12-2005 03:54 PM

That'll die down once you get everything up and running though.

I've never actually used php-nuke, but I do have an understanding of this stuff, so I've got a few ideas... I'll have to write them up later though because my power's going off in 5 minutes.
Btw, what version?
One of my mates should know if I can't work it out... I'll see what I can do.

Gav: Nice stuff :D
I've been doing... nothing. Besides jams, rehearsals, studying for next year... the usual. Man I need msn!

Trigger_003 12-13-2005 02:12 AM

:/

Doesn't seem like you can do it without actually going in and modifying the script. Since I don't have it myself, I can't tell you what specific lines to change to what, or even test the supposed fixes that people have created, so there's a bit of a problem there.

If you want to, you could try this:
Go to the modules directory and see how many pages there are relating to the search modules. If there are only 2 or so, maybe I can have a look through them (all the variables are going to relate to ones used on other pages though, so I still might not be able to do anything there...).
Probably the easiest way is to get them to me through here and edit it out later, or you could create a temp. account where I can access all that stuff directly through the site if that was okay with you (I can't really email at the moment).

I've asked around, so hopefully we can get an answer pretty soon anyway.

Aes820 12-15-2005 03:51 AM

My website is up. Yay.
I am still working on the asp stuff tho.

How is everyone?

Still got some things to iron out, like I need to fix some of the links from the Band 101 articles. And then play with the colours for the forum and then just bomb the Venue database with as many venues as I can. :)

It's alright now :) I just swapped to Mambo instead and tinkered with it.

Trigger_003 12-15-2005 07:40 PM

Cool, Mambo's supposed to be a lot better :).

I'm good. I had a 5 hour jam the other day, I'm starting to get into working with Flash, and I've really gotta try one of these pie-in-a-bun things Simon (Aussie forum) keeps talking about.

Chris, if you still don't have a definite drummer, there's been an offer in the Aussie Musician Directory for you... in case you hadn't seen it.

/checks out both sites

Aes820 12-15-2005 09:33 PM

band-101 looks to be on it's way. Nice one.
Still needs a lot of work tho.
Maybe I could offer my services to whip up some page templates (?).

Flash is great fun Trea. If you need tech support or hints and tips just let me know.

And yeah. I saw that bloke in the Aussie forum who replied to my "I need a drummer" request.
Thanks. But I'm yet to talk to the guys about it.

Trigger_003 12-15-2005 11:46 PM

No worries.
Thanks for that offer too. You sure do go out of your way :).
I've just been reading up on tutorials and stuff without even having the app. yet... it costs a bit - and I don't think there's a cheap student deal on it either :(. Knowing me, I'd probably just check out the trial version, love it, and when the 30 days is up, sit around and think:
"Now what? :upset:"

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-16-2005 12:56 AM

Trea, what's up? I've got a song to show you.

Trigger_003 12-16-2005 01:01 AM

I wrote another essay in Beginner's Questions this morning - I think it was 1700 words or something... really gotta stop doing that - and I just got back from a 30 min run (*pant*)

Awesome, something you wrote?
Stupid being banned from msn still :/... um, you can email me - I can still use hotmail (which really defeats the purpose of banning msn imo, but hey)

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-16-2005 01:27 AM

Link me to the essay :-D.

Yeah, I just got back from gym with Marcus, 'twas good.

I'll just chuck it on YSI for you (incase other people want to see >_>):

What're you doing on teh weekend?

Trigger_003 12-16-2005 01:39 AM

Wow, loving them so far. Nice and full of awesomeness as usual.

Not much... can't jam because half the band is in Phillip Island (surfing without me :(), and most of my mates are away at the moment so I'm just going to work on music like I've been doing almost non-stop all holidays so far. Heh.
How about you?

Trigger_003 12-16-2005 01:55 AM

Oh yeah, http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=423629
but I posted it in the guitar forum as well so you might have seen it already.

Did you see/like Apathy?
For everyone else (n Gav if he hasn't seen it), here's one of my latests:

Mellow mists swirling deeply
Across a world lost sense of time
In the darkness, a power lurking
Watching secrets, once resigned

Now I feel the tables turning
Once ensconced, you lose your mind
Triumph comes, victory burning
To this dank world I’m left behind

I don’t have to be your saviour
They won’t suffer upon will of mine
Glowering from your realm, learning
Resistance, happening in your time

To us you said no one would be there
A helping hand, forever gone
In yourself our faith entrusted
Bequeathed, we run from tyrant eyes

I don’t have to be your saviour
They won’t suffer upon will of mine
Glowering from your realm, learning
Resistance, happening in your time

Vehement, they scream, lament, revolsion,
Indifferent turns your blind eye.
Even now, your apathy outstanding,
Incoherent, bleak is tonight.

Still working on it... but yeah, what you think?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-16-2005 02:20 AM

Awesome as usual, :).

Hmm, this weekend, let's see. I don't think I'm doing anything!

But I will tell you about last night:

My brother went to a party with one of his mates, and they were planning to come back at 4-ish and wake me so I could chill with them until the morning, so that was going to be good. Then I get out of the shower at roughly 1am to hear people walking down the side of my house.

I say "that can't be them" and go outside. I see six guys coming to my house, all of which were my brother's friends, so our night started a tad earlier than expected. We were chilling in our garage playing pool and fussball and whatnot, when our of my brother's friends got a message on his phone that there were a couple of ladies a tad worse for wear down at the local McDonalds. So off we go at about 2:30 in the morning (the seven of us) and walk about 1.5km down to Maccas where there are three girls. They were all drunk, but one of them was utterly shitfaced. She couldn't even stand up. So four of my brothers friends escorted them back to their house and took care of them.

I said "I'm hungry" and my brother and one of his friends (who is a massive legend) agreed so we decided to walk down to the local "Quix" (service station). It was about 3km away (by now it was roughly 3am). So picture this - three guys walking down the middle of Canterbury Rd. One wearing normal clothes, one wearing a bandana and a chain around his neck, and another wearing a bandana, a singlet, boxer shorts and moccasins (me)!

On our way, we saw a group of guys which made us kind of nervous, but when we got closer we saw it was two guys that like my brother. My brother doesn't like these guys, though, ('cause they stole his beer!). They said "hey, how long would it take to walk to Belgrave?" my brother - whilst aware of how long it would actually take - told them it would be roughly five hours, in the hopes that they would decide to walk it instead of getting a taxi. We also saw another guy and said "hey" to him. He gave us the finger (that takes balls).

We got our hot dogs and drinks from Quix, and when the reality of how far away we were (about 4km :p) hit us, we decided to call a taxi back home. When we got home, two of my brother's friends decided to swim in our pool. Idiots. Then we finally went to bed at about 5 in the morning.

Woo.
I went through all the pages and changed all the links to point to the right forum but then all the band101 ones have disobeyed me :(

I'm trying to learn c++ at the moment, but I've come up against the problem that even if I copy and paste the correct code from a tutorial site into my compiler I have to change #include <iostream> to #include <iostream.h> and any tutorial codes that include the line using namespace std; don't work until I remove it. Plus other things. Is it likely to be my compiler being awkward of just my pc? (The compiler is Plato3 and it crashes a hell of a lot)
