well here in the "dirty south",if a punk is seen they are usually harassed.that is probably how the punk scene got started out being called the underground.

only local groups around here are rock, country, alt or rap.

But, CT is literally a jump away from New York, and know many more local CT bands such as

Pistol Whipped Bastards, Rat Byte, and Copyright Chaos.
Wait, you're from CT?

Jessizzle 11-07-2005 02:17 PM

Uumm about the promoting. Its all very easy. You book bands that you like.. If you book bands no one has heard of.. then people might not come.
For us. If we book the johnstones and say 4 really good bands, but lesser known. The Johnstones will draw a rather big crowd. One or two headliner local bands and 2 or 3 smaller ones will get a good crowd and make a good show. you CAN make money if its done right. We rent the venue pay the bands and if theres anything left from the door costs we keep it.

somrandomguy 11-07-2005 10:04 PM

Hmm...we have an incredibly thriving scene, but alot of it isn't punk, per se; though there is a TON of good hardcore bands. Well, let's start with a list of bands that came out of the scene here but I'm not counting:
Endpoint
Black Cross
My Morning Jacket
Slint
Breather Resist
Emanuel
King Kong
The Merediths
My Own Victim
Lords
Shipping News
Three Nails for a False Prophet
VHS or Beta

Impressed yet? Anyways, here's my five:

Abandon all hope 11-07-2005 11:10 PM

I've been meaning to help out my scene, but I don't think seattle is too punx.......Theres a local band from white center that has quite a following

myspace.com/ratcityruckus

theres always nirvana! :(

Lazybassplr56 11-07-2005 11:11 PM

Sinking Ships
Champion
both seattle bands.

Graffito 11-07-2005 11:18 PM

Here in Australia nobody really gives a **** about punks. The emo's cop a bit of flack though. Then again, I don't really dress like a punk so I don't really know.

TheNowhereman42 11-07-2005 11:19 PM
Where do you live?
Santa Clarita, where Magic Mountain is.

You going to the Adicts/Blitz/Total Chaos show in Lancaster? I'm pretty on the fence about it, but I probably won't get a chance to see another good back again till Propagandhi comes around.

But then again, Total Chaos suck, I hear Blitz suck live now, and I've seen the Adicts a couple of times.

Although they are awesome every time.

40 oz 2 freedom 11-07-2005 11:23 PM

Blitz only has one original member left, and they're not very good live anymore.

xxGumbyxx 11-07-2005 11:52 PM

I'm seeing blitz at the Allen Theatre in Southgate.

TheNowhereman42 11-08-2005 12:11 AM

Whens that? I heard Friday was in Lancaster.

The Allen Theatre is awesome, I saw Leftover Crack there. The nieghborhood is totally ghetto as well.

My friend Derek : Holy crap, a prison!
Girlfriend: Uh...thats a school...

StruckEverywhere 11-08-2005 12:27 AM

Bands from my town:

Bleeders
Losing Face
Missing Teeth
Task One
Cold By Winter
Cobra Khan

Dammit. If I wanted to draw ANYONE in my town, I'd have to book MCR as the headliner.

Plus, I found another local band that was around for a year in the 70's and reunitied last year. www.ramrodsdetroit.com

There's a band from seattle that tours sometimes, and when they do, we always play with them when they get to our city. They're called Sledgeback:
