Subtle:

The Red Chord were doing that sound before both those bands, so them.
Oh good.

At least you gave me some credit and didn't say Converge.

BuddyBigsby 09-15-2004 12:17 AM

Well, what I really meant to say was

CONVERGE!!!!!

AND WE WON'T! STAND IN! THE SAME SUN! AGAIN!

SubtleDagger 09-15-2004 12:18 AM

/me looked on SoulSeek and found an entire Red Chord album with easy download speed and is making a CD.

Good times.

EDIT: What I really like is the "Mordecai/In Between The Sheets" sort of sound, but I can never find any. > : (

DavidBowieWasHere 09-15-2004 12:21 PM
what would you consider the Circle Jerks, then.

i've always considered them hardcore.
Yup, hardcore. :)

Btw, grindcore isn't being called punk, is it? I always thought it was death metal.

cbmartinez 09-15-2004 01:03 PM

Thank god Dead got banned. I hate him. Way to take him down Buddy.

NewKindofArmy03 09-15-2004 01:35 PM

about hatebreed, i really don't think "satisfaction is the death of desire" would be considered metalcore. "rise of brutality" does however have a lot of metal elements, so i'd call that cd metalcore. and buddy was right, they aren't a tough guy band. their music may resemble it, but a lot of their lyrics are very positive.
Yup, hardcore. :)

shane italian 09-15-2004 03:37 PM
So, I have a question:

IMO, Glass Casket and BTBAM = Grindcore/Metalcore

Any other bands like this?
Check out:

yo weiners:

If you knew Throwdown in 6th grade, I salute you.

AndHagan3 09-15-2004 07:11 PM

I thought Hatebreed was the definition of Metalcore? But then I dont listen to much in that genre.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 09-15-2004 07:42 PM

Hatebreed's newer stuff has more metal influence. They are borderline, but are usually considered metalcore. I love Hatebreed though.
If you knew Throwdown in 6th grade, I salute you.
He may just be a 7th grader.

AndHagan3 09-15-2004 08:12 PM

I was listening to Throwdown last year.

cbmartinez 09-15-2004 08:13 PM

The only bands I liked in 6th grade were SmashMouth, Linkin Park (I think), Weird Al, Limp Bizkit and Weird Al.

NewKindofArmy03 09-15-2004 08:14 PM

but weird al is cool, i have bad hair day lying around somewhere from 5th grade.

AndHagan3 09-15-2004 08:14 PM

I was listening to Dr. Dre in 6th grade and not much else.

40 oz 2 freedom 09-15-2004 08:20 PM

I still listen to Dr. Dre.

*is serious*

AndHagan3 09-15-2004 08:21 PM

I don't. I keep thinking he was the same guy that did the show with that guy named Ed. But he didn't.

NewKindofArmy03 09-15-2004 08:24 PM

today me and my friends were talking about eminem and i was surprised i still knew all the lyrics even to his non-popular songs.

AndHagan3 09-15-2004 08:27 PM

I only know the lyrics to his big hits. Real Slim Shady and the one were he cries because people blame him for stuff.

Big-Bird 09-15-2004 08:34 PM

i only like one song by Eminem and it's White America...

That's actually not a bad song...
He may just be a 7th grader.
A year ago I listened to Good Charlotte. Heh. My tastes have evolved quite a bit...I'm in 9th grade but I skipped...so I'm the age of an 8th grader.

NewKindofArmy03 09-15-2004 09:35 PM

i was listening to stuff like that a year and a half ago and then i got into punk.

40 oz 2 freedom 09-15-2004 09:37 PM

In 8th grade I was all about Drive-Thru Records, which led to Thursday, which led to Poison The Well, then metalcore, then hardcore.

I'm in 10th, also skipped, so the age of a 9th grader.

shane italian 09-15-2004 09:39 PM

A year ago I was into the same stuff basically. More along the lines of Throwdown, Comeback Kid, Norma Jean, The Takeover and Stay Gold to name favorites at the time.

40 oz 2 freedom 09-15-2004 09:42 PM

Last year I was into Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, and just starting to get into Converge.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 09-15-2004 09:46 PM

I just started liking Rancid and NOFX and stuff...and then I gradually made my way to street punk and whatnot, then I just got into hardcore...

mikewhat 09-15-2004 09:55 PM
He weiner, majority rule.
yeah, because you guys know what hardcore is.

nothing6 09-15-2004 09:55 PM

I'm in 10th grade now, Last year was pretty much the same stuff, except this year i'm getting into more hardcore like comeback kid and champion and what not.

shane italian 09-15-2004 10:05 PM
yeah, because you guys know what hardcore is.
Don't gimme that BS. OoOoOo We said HATEBREED is Metalcore! We just tainted the hardcore name and spirit! I don't really care what you think Hatebreed is, they stand for the right things and they get kudos for that, but I personally find their music to be metallic.

mikewhat 09-15-2004 10:09 PM

i care.

shane italian 09-15-2004 10:12 PM
i care.
Good for you?

Nope, Hatebreed post-Satisfaction is completely metalcore. See what I was saying to dead on the subject.
