FatalEnergy: Use mediafire, it's more friendly for uploads than megaupload.
It takes ages to upload on mediafire.

Decapitated/Amon Amarth tour supposedly in the works. If its cheap and they add some good opening bands I might go.

Riva 07-10-2007 11:40 PM

That'd be a good tour to catch in any case.

C.O.A. 07-11-2007 12:01 AM

i'm curious Dargon, could you name your 5 favorite DM bands atm?

It won't happen.

Blabbermouth
It won't happen.
why not?

pate 07-11-2007 12:11 AM

Because he won't post them.

Tyler 07-11-2007 12:12 AM
why not?
He rarely shares.

C.O.A. 07-11-2007 12:23 AM

i don't want a link or anything, i'm just curious about what he considers good.

i don't know, its just the fact that he says almost every band that comes up is "gay kiddie wiggercore" or something like that. i want to see what he considers "good"

He's too "elite" to share with us, even band names.

Pay attention though, he slips occasionally.

wow.

Invicta_Veritas 07-11-2007 12:34 AM

Yea. We don't start shit with him for the fun of it, he's actually that much of an idiot.

Tyler 07-11-2007 12:35 AM

The synths on this Nocturnus are unexpectedly badass.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-11-2007 12:37 AM

The Key rules.

FatalEnergy 07-11-2007 12:55 AM

Their 2nd demo is also unbelievably awesome. The crappier production actually makes the songs sound twice as brutal.

AA-12 07-11-2007 12:56 AM
What do you mean by atmospheric?

Like... real atmospheric, engaging music?

Or just shi‪ttily recorded albums in the verge of Like an Ever Flowing Stream?
Uhhhhhhhh

LAEFS has pretty much the perfect DM production.

Invicta_Veritas 07-11-2007 12:58 AM

Josh, quit spamming and getting banned.

I remembered how amazing "Dismembered" is tonight. :chug:

AA-12 07-11-2007 01:02 AM

They're definitely my overall most preferred DM band as of the last 2 or 3 months.

@Axl: ?

Invicta_Veritas 07-11-2007 01:03 AM

Pit, spam, ban, stop. We enjoy having you around R&M.

FatalEnergy 07-11-2007 01:08 AM

Just because everyone has recently blowing a load over LAEFS I'm going to listen to the demos before it, and try to think of clever ways to say that those are superior and u r all nubz

Huh? What spam? The one thread me and Drall made?

Invicta_Veritas 07-11-2007 01:18 AM

Yea, you were banned for part of today...did you not get online during your ban anyway?

AA-12 07-11-2007 01:24 AM

Hahaha, nope. That's funny though. Me and him spam every night

Invicta_Veritas 07-11-2007 01:26 AM

That's funny. You were banned and didn't even know it...

AA-12 07-11-2007 01:28 AM

It's worth it then, haha

ninjamonkey 07-11-2007 01:52 AM

Dargon,

I enjoy all those bands you listed in the rep, but not as much as Gorement.

What do you think of Internal Decay? They are another one of my favorites.
YES BUT YOU KNOW, I'D DEFINE WHAT THE F‪UCK IS AMBIENT TO ME PRIOR TO BITCHING.
I'm never sure whether you're just trolling or actually want to have a reasonable discussion.

For a start the question was originally about atmosphere and then you start asking about ambient. For me they are two totally different things. And I'll say straight up that there is no such thing as ambient death metal. It would be an oxymoron; like brutal gospel!

So if you want to know about atmospheric death metal then yes it should be defined first, so please do and then we can offer some suggestions.

The other recurring topic at the moment is production values. I think the major thing people (especially BRA - possibly because of the way audio engineering courses are taught) are missing is that production is all about taste and trends. From an audio engineering standpoint, productions from The Abyss with Peter Tangerine are excellent. However, to my ears they are awful - far too bright, far too compressed with no dynamics and awful drum sounds (that don't sound like drums). Fredrik Nordstrom on the other hand is much more to my tastes - darker with much more depth.

Put it this way, I think the production on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is better than the production on "Death Cult Armageddon".

Or if you want the analogy - modern productions are often like Budweiser: crisp, sharp but no depth.

C.O.A. 07-11-2007 03:47 AM

which incantation albums are the best?
