I've heard so much about Nocturnus, especially one of their 7"s but I've never heard them.

There's too much ****ing music out there.
I can upload The Key if you'd like.
I'm being completely serious. Too much death metal is shallow and completely focuses on brutality. There's good stuff out there, less now than there used to be in many cases, I know, but I don't really think you're looking in the right place with death metal if you want atmospheric music.

I'd say you'd have a better bet with screamo or black metal.
Not necessarily. But I do see your point, I'm just saying there are plenty of exceptions....just not as many as there should be of course.

Dargon 07-10-2007 08:20 PM

there's plenty of great atmospheric death metal out there, but it tends to be more underground. My message "look to rep" indicated that I left the bands I liked in Ninjamonkey's rep so that unworthy children wouldn't find out about them. If you want to learn about atmospheric death metal, you can do it on your own time, but I wouldn't recommend it as it's far above your head anyways.

Thanks.

TojesDolan 07-10-2007 08:21 PM

I see.

Well, you fail at it anyway because I can see rep messages. :)

Invicta_Veritas 07-10-2007 08:21 PM

Or you're just too shallow for fear of being flamed.

Any dirt on him, Tojes?

TojesDolan 07-10-2007 08:23 PM

Not really, I kinda like Dargon.

He is usually right with recommendations.

FatalEnergy 07-10-2007 08:24 PM
Thanks.
No problem, I'll have to you in a few minutes.

This is one of my all time favorite DM albums. Mike Browing rules.

The notion that Death Metal does not breed atmosphere is completely false. I can understand that numerous types of DM do not but to say that is just incorrect.

Um? Severed Surivial anyone?

Left Hand Path?

Cause of Death?

Nespithe?

Slumber of Sullen Eyes?

The Red In The Sky Is Ours?

Annilation of the Wicked....haha (I feel so)

Seriously, the list goes on!

have you got their demo comp? It's worth hearing. I'm not a fan of Thresholds or anything after The Key for that matter.

this is a misconception almost exclusively disseminated by infantile mallrats who are only familiar with sterile, rap-influenced nudeath such as Devourment and Origin. So, of course they think death metal has no atmosphere.

Yep, I'm actually listening to that right now, since Nocturnus got brought up.

The 87 and 88 demos. It's got the song Nocturnus on it, that wasn't on the next two albums.

Well, duh, but for the most part, at face value it's not a very atmospheric genre.

We're all capable of reading, and we're all well aware of your egomania.

Fuck that, I'm sticking with Envy.

YES BUT YOU KNOW, I'D DEFINE WHAT THE F‪UCK IS AMBIENT TO ME PRIOR TO BITCHING.

FatalEnergy 07-10-2007 08:31 PM

Yeah, I'll rep you guys the link.

Stormrider 07-10-2007 08:34 PM
Yeah, I'll rep you guys the link.
Muchas gracias.

Dargon 07-10-2007 08:34 PM

everyone who gets it must hail the brilliance of UNDEAD JOURNEY.

Tyler 07-10-2007 08:35 PM

Thanks. I'd rep you back but I can't.

edit: I'm assuming you haven't repped it yet.

I'm on a Dismember kick right now. I had my iTunes on shuffle when Dismembered came on so I instantly put Like An Everflowing Stream on

TojesDolan 07-10-2007 08:37 PM

Yeah, that album is really, really good. I think listening to it wearing headphones really improves the overall experience.

Slapping Penguin 07-10-2007 08:38 PM

Yeah I was too a month ago too. That album is just amazing. I don't think anything else needs to be said.

NP: Prokofiev, Sergei - Piano Concerto No.5 in G Major, Op. 55 - 4: Larghetto

FatalEnergy 07-10-2007 08:41 PM

I haven't listened to LAEFS in a while. I probably should.

Megaupload is taking it's sweet time uploading this.

NP: Undead Journey ('88 Demo Version)

Stormrider 07-10-2007 08:41 PM

Yeah, I listened to Like An Everflowing Stream loads a week or so back. Great cd.

Tyler 07-10-2007 08:42 PM
Megaupload is taking it's sweet time uploading this.
Tsss, no rush.

TojesDolan 07-10-2007 08:43 PM

FatalEnergy: Use mediafire, it's more friendly for uploads than megaupload.

FatalEnergy 07-10-2007 08:48 PM

Okay, it's been repped to all you guys. Enjoy.

NP: Nocturnus - BC/AD

TojesDolan 07-10-2007 08:57 PM

Dargon, you don't know sh‪it about ambient.

Thank you.
