Maybe Autumn Leaves and Intestine Baalism? They both do a little bit of traditional death metal and a little bit of melodic death, and both are freaking awesome.

Intestine Baalism is Japanese (I think...they're some kind of Asian), so they're bound to sound different here and there. I love how some of their song titles get poorly translated.

Check out Vehemence's "God Was Created" if you haven't...

A lot of people don't like them, but they're one of the few melodic death bands whose riffs seem to have any emotional pull to them, and their songwriting is ace.

Necrophagist is very technical and what not.

Not the most cohesive band lyrically.

What bands have you heard so far? Since you're a prog guy the chances are you will dig some juicy progressive (death) metal :smoke:

Aren't you a prog guy? :\ Well I'm not sure whether you got bored of metal before or after listening to some of the more mindblowing proggy stuff (aka unexpect, augury, demigod, demilich, windham hell etc)

Which Demigod is the one that everyone round here raves about? I really think I'm overdue for a listen.
