Anybody like Busdriver?
I love Busdriver. Have you heard The Weather? It's a collaboration between Busdriver, Daedelus, and Radioinactive. It's pretty great. |

I've only heard bits of Temporary Forever, but I will check that album out. <3 |
Mek, I notice you are taking an intrest in rap. Next time I get a chance, Ill upload some mp3s for you.
|
How many Wu-Tang die hards up in this joint.
It should be a rule to only speak with Ebonics in this thread. |

/raises hand
It should be a rule to only speak with Ebonics in this thread.
Sounds like something a white guy would say :p |
What you talkin' bout, jive turkey?
|
That's not ebonics. Not by a longshot.
|
Who's heard (of) Gil Scott-Heron? I will think lesser of you if you haven't.

Yeah, that would be awesome. Thanks. :) We can randomly upload stuff in here that we think people should listen to/check out, if you guys are up to it. I'm listening to Eyedea and Abilities - Now hxxp://s35.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2UZ4Z3R1FNFBE39V5BQZTTL1YR I wasn't really impressed with this track until he starts rapping and rhyming at lightspeed at around 0:39. edit: In fact, it's not that great of a song at all, I was just listening to it at the time. :upset: |
I'll hook you up :)
|
I've been getting more and more into rap/hip-hop recently. I love Wiley, Dizzee Rascall, (older) Roll Deep, Crazy Titch. I think they'd be considered UK Garage, not hip-hop, but I'm not fussy. I'm really not a fan of stuff like 50 Cent though.

I love Rap music, I love Illmatic for making this thread too,
:). [/DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY SERIES THREADS IN R&M, THERE'S RAP THERE TOO!] :), never hurt anyone.. EDIT: alright, my favourite rap bands: Grandmaster Flash & TFF, Public Enemy, N.W.A, Tupac, The Beastie Boys, Various Solo Rappers (Ice Cube, Dre., Eazy etc), Rob Base, Big Daddy Kane, Blackalishious, Deltron 5000, Roll Deep, Kanye West. And the likes, I like various songs from certain artists, but as a whole I don't like certain artists. I also hate the way newbs diss rap because they think it will make them look cool. :) |
The Whitey Album by Ciccone Youth is probably one of my favorite rap albums. And yes, there is rapping on it.
|
As of now I really wanna hear the new Buck 65 album, but so far Be is definately the best hip-hop album of the year, followed possibly by the latest by Roots Manuva.
Anyone know any of the details of the upcoming Blackalicious album or when its coming out? |
5 favorite MCs:
5. Ice Cube 4. 2Pac 3. Chuck D 2. Rakim 1. Biggie Smalls |
I'm definitely only feeling 2Pac...and some Wu-Tang.
|
I bought Lords of the Underground's "Here Come the Lords" and Run D.M.C.'s Down With the King (which I wasn't incredibly happy with). I would have rather had Tougher Than Leather, since the store was apparently selling it for $2.99, but they lied to me and they didn't even have it. :upset:
This was about two weeks ago. I need to purchase some more stuff soon. |

Only Tupac? You should listen to some N.W.A, and Public Enemy, and some Beastie Boys..and some Rob Base. Etc. |
I am going to go see the Hieroglyphics and Del this month!
|
Sweet, they can put on an awesome show.
I just saw VH1's Least Hip Hop Moments of All Time or whatever. Kinda sad, kinda funny. |
So what are some good rap/hip hop labels to check out?
|

I just saw VH1's Least Hip Hop Moments of All Time or whatever. Kinda sad, kinda funny.
I saw a couple of those. Most of the ones I saw really weren't that bad. Like Busta Rhymes and Martha Stewart and Elmo rapping. |

QUANNUM PROJECTS! Oh my jeez! |
Has anybody ever heard of Living Legends?
|

The Elmo rap was funny. Never saw that before. Mostly the show was just like, "Look! White guy rapping. White guys can't rap lolz." Rap labels: Stones Throw Definitive Jux Ninja Tune (lot of turntablist stuff) Quannum Rhymesayers Rawkus Chocolate Industries Warp (not really) Fat Beats Probably missing something obvious. I really don't think about labels so much any more; you're liable to find some crap anywhere you look. In any case, Stones Throw always surprises me with their consistency. I don't own a bad album from Stones Throw, but it's not like I have their entire catalogue so meh. |
Thanks a lot. I just like to find new artists through record labels, and I wasn't sure what rap/hip hop ones were legit.
|
I got the newest Mos Def album, it's really good.

Which one? The New Danger? I thought it was terrible. |
Another for the old schoolers....
3rd Bass... The Cactus Album, and Derelicts of Dialect. God almighty. |
