I've just got into Dangerdoom - The Mouse and the Mask, any suggestions for similar stuff, where's the best place to start with MF Doom?
Also what are the best Hi-tek produced albums, i really dig the hi-tekonology albums especially volume 2, again suggestions would be great.
MF Doom made plenty of worthwhile albums, but i'd start with Operation Doomsday. Some good Hi-Tek productions are the Reflection Eternal album "Train of Thought" and most of Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star. |
The Jamie T album was from the very start of this year, Interstate.
With MF Doom you have plenty of choice, but Operation Doomsday or Mm Food are both as good as any. And for Hi-Tek I'd probably go for Reflection Eternal. |
Four Tet remix of MF Doom's Great Day.
mmmmm |
Blue Scholars
Not usually a big Rap/Hip-Hop guy, but I'm digging the Blue Scholars. New album reminds me of Tribe Called Quest or Mos Def/Common; just real literate, groove-hop.

Damn right. Ready To Die is one of my top 5 albums ever. |

It's terrible. He has one of the best singles this year and it doesn't appear on this, he claims Kanye is the new Premo too much, and the best song was already released on J-Dilla's The Shining. It's like Be-lite in terms of rapping and terrible beats. |
I'm reviewing the new Common. There's just way too much Kanye on it. The production is distracting and totally contrived, and in a testament to you saying it's Be-lite they actually sample **** off Be on this one.
Damn right. Ready To Die is one of my top 5 albums ever.
I wouldn't quite put it at one of my top five, but it's definitely one of the best albums I've happened upon in a long time.
Gimme the Loot, Things Done Changed, etc. are classic. |

The sad part is the beats are still way better than Common's rapping. He just seems so content to make it hook happy that he wont even begin rapping on it. Strange considering he has some killer tracks come out this year. How he went from "State of Clarity" and "A Dream" to "The People" is beyond me. |
What a disappointment, I don't even know if I will bother listening anymore :( I guess I'll just stick with his old stuff for the moment.
In other news, I've been diggin me a bit of Quasimoto of late, as well as the Chrome Children volumes (1 and 2). Whassup World by Dudley Perkins is the defining Stone's Throw song in my eyes, when I hear it I automatically think of Stone's Throw. Awesome, awesome song. |
anyone like Supernatural? i saw him at rock the bells and he was ****in awesome im downloadin his cd now
|
He's an amazing freestyler. Never heard any of his stuff though.
|
yeah all he did at the show was freestyle and it was amazing, the cds ok, pretty cool but nothin special really, just solid
|
