Thou Umbilical
The first mushroom cloud was a shock to us all. By the time the second appeared, and
another, and another, in tidy little rows, we knew: this was the end. As we sat waiting for
the fallout to claim us, they caught the one responsible and paraded
them through town to their inevitable execution. Kind of superfluous given what was
happening, but it's human nature, after all. Before the electricity went out, before it was
truly over, they broadcast the culprit's last words. How could someone do this? How can you
own up to ending the world? With tears in their eyes, they defiantly exclaimed:

Ihsahn Ihsahn
Easily his best since Arktis, and avoids a lot of the pitfalls that plague orchestral metal. Did not leave a lasting impression upon an immediate listen like Artkis or After (his magnum opus), but time will tell if this one is a keeper or an interesting experiment.

Janelle Monae The Age of Pleasure
I could not tell you a single memorable thing from this record (aside from the Shibari line, 10/10), but I also haven't unconsciously danced to an entire record in years. That alone bumps it to a 3.

Rebecca Black Let Her Burn
Friday was pay to play and so is this record, is that why everyone hates this so much? It's generic and inoffensive, Pitchfork gotta chill the fuck ouuuuut.

Thrice The Artist in the Ambulance (Revisited)
Guest vocal spots are pretty whack, Dustin sounds a lil tired as opposed to weary on some
tunes, and the new production works about 60ish% of the time. Could've been better.

At the end of the day though, who gives a shit. This is Thrice's best record bar none and I
am absolutely going to throw my back out in the Brooklyn pit for The Abolition of Man along
with every other 30-something who needs one last ride.
