utter garbage

Dawg what the fuck happened to this band
|
| |
They were never very good but this is a new low.
|
| |
How long are they going to keep milking the bus crash story? Get another subject, it’s really fucking tired now
|
| |
it's not really hard to understand why someone might want to write a lot of songs about dealing with an extraordinarily traumatic event that left them all crippled and two people dead.
Song is quite mid.
|
| |
Band was past their prime when the accident happened, you gotta root for these guys but this ain’t shit
|
| |
the bridge at the mid point of the song actually slaps and gives a taste of vintage TGI but fucking hell the rest of absolute tryhard garbo
|
| |
It's fine to use music to cope with trauma, far as I'm concerned these guys have been writing the same songs about the same event with little variation. Just look into the lyrics since it has happened and it's just a rehashed version of the same story, feels more like they're playing for sympathy rather than trying to come up with something that is genuinely heartfelt.
Just feels hollow as hell.

Funny how everyone here was so proud of them last album cycle and is now turning against them. Y'all are so fickle.
|
| |
believe it or not is it possible to be proud of the individual band members for overcoming a horrific event while not caring for their music
|
| |
Lol look at the last album announcement thread compared to this one. The 180 is absurd and the quality is basically identical

Song is alright.
|
| |
Chug-core shit.
|
| |
first minute or so was pretty average, but I dig the chorus.
|
| |
Yeah it's so fickle that people can change their mind over the course of 3 years wow
|
| |
Band’s always been just alright. This is just okay

Though I did really enjoy their comeback album. Aftermath actually got me to tear up when I first heard it bc I was so happy for them to overcome the accident.
That being said these new songs ain't it. This one is definitely the better of the two at least but eh...
|
| |
Returners is a classic. It's been downhill from then though.
|
| |
Nah Get What You Give was awesome too
|
| |
thought this band was the shit when Returners came out. Ohh how times change

"You want to play it safe and play the game"
You lads clearly do
|

The subject matter doesn't bother me, it's the lazy songwriting that bothers me. Aside from that one brief melodic bit in the middle of the song, the rest is just generic chugs that could be done by any band. Their comeback album wasn't reinventing the wheel musically, but it had a good story and triumphant energy behind it and was similar to their other releases so it worked out well. But this is just lazy, unfortunately. I say this as a big fan of the band.
I think that's why the reactions are negative this time around.

I think it's completely normal for the audience to have expectations in general. I think TGI used to be a really solid band, with some good lyrical themes, nothing groundbreaking but they managed to make some good albums. They've had their triumphant return, I'm happy for them to be healthy and back, but as previously others have mentioned, 3 years have passed.
The reason I'm saying they're "milking" the same cow, is because they've probably ran out of ideas, and are sticking with what worked the last time around.
Standards for metalcore are already super low, but cancel me if I'm not going to clap for shite music just because they've had their fair share of misfortunes in the past.
|
| |
I'm probably in the minority but I really dig this. The chorus felt more reminscent of early TGI than their most recent album ever did and the Kublai Khan-esque intro is groovy as hell. My main complaint is that Zakk Cervini's mixing doesn't fit this band at all, it sounds like TGI with a huge Bad Omens-filter awkwardly laced on top.
|
| |
Its just boring core that doesnt really do anything to standout or be unique
|
| |
mfs be like "yall fickle for expecting new subject matter on their music"
|
| |
returners was poop
|
| |
"I did really enjoy their comeback album"
same. We'll see, still looking forward to everything these guys release
|
| |
“ They've had their triumphant return, I'm happy for them to be healthy and back”
“ but cancel me if I'm not going to clap for shite music just because they've had their fair share of misfortunes in the past.”

"Funny how everyone here was so proud of them last album cycle and is now turning against them. Y'all are so fickle."
or ya know, the song just sucks ass. Also everyone is not true in that statement at all.
|
| |
Best thing about this band was their Scott Vogel beef
|
| |
get get get get got got got got
|
| |
Melodic bit towards the middle of this is actually awesome but the rest is just chug city
|
| |
band claims they're hardcore when they don't even know what hardcore is, get out of my face. oh yeah, that's what's up
|
| |
middddddddd
