They should fire whole band after last release
|
| |
imagine being fired by someone named Noodles
|
| |
Well that's shitty.
|
| |
lucky for him tbh
|
| |
did you even read past the first sentence?
|
| |
Lucky him. I wouldn't want to be in that band in 2021 either.
|
| |
Given his seemingly valid explanation that seems rather unfair. Poor look in my opinion.
|
| |
did you even read past the first sentence?
Still, DEXTER HAS A PH.D IN MOLECULAR BIOLOGY.
|
| |
I wouldn't argue with him in that field.
|
| |
he seems to have a valid reason for not taking it (instead of anti-vaxxer pseudoscience), but being in a touring band makes that a tough situation to navigate.
|
| |
the whole band should've been fired over the last album
|
| |
Booooooo
|
| |
He should have just lied and bought a fake vax card tbh
|
| |
that worked out well for those American folks traveling to Canada
|
| |
"imagine being fired by someone named Noodles"
lmaooo
But seriously, this is fucked. Seems like he had a damn good enough reason not to get it.
|
| |
“They should fire whole band after last release“
[2]
|
| |
Hmm
|
| |
probably shouldn't have been fired but they should have got a touring drummer for the time being
|
| |
a real one of a kind. how will they ever find a replacement
|
| |
where do i send my audition tape
|
| |
Why the hell would the band even care? If everyone else is vaccinated, and the vaccine is effective, it literally wouldn't affect them at all. This just seems like a really shitty thing to do to someone.
|
| |
The "medical explanation" is pretty flimsy though
|
| |
This is clearly just a business move. Probably not even a necessary one. Glad it's a crappy band I don't care about, and I suggest the drummer take the same perspective.
|
| |
YER GONNA GO FAAAAAAR KIDDDDDDDD
|
| |
Medical issues aside I wouldn't want to tour the world with someone unvaccinated.
They probably should have just had him take the tour off instead of firing him, but maybe he was the one adamant about it
|
| |
Fuck them, I'm unvaccinated and plan to keep it that way. Shit isn't even FDA approved and now they're saying that vaccinated people can still get and transmit the virus. What's the point if you're young?
|
| |
@Dungeon "that worked out well for those American folks traveling to Canada"
lol had to look this one up. 16k is TOUGH.
All jokes aside, really surprised by the lack of support for the drummer here. I personally don't think it should be anyone's business whether he gets the vax medical history aside, so especially backed with some medical rationale I am surprised he would get the boot and the general agreement I am seeing for it.
|
| |

"Fuck them, I'm unvaccinated and plan to keep it that way. Shit isn't even FDA approved and now they're saying that vaccinated people can still get and transmit the virus. What's the point if you're young?"
vaccines still effective at preventing severe disease and death -- the virus has spread too far to eradicate it entirely at this point.
the first round of vaccines will be FDA approved soon at this rate, and they are authorized for emergency use -- we're in an emergency
also, get the vaccine to protect other people. COVID killed my brother. By not getting the vaccine, you put immunocompromised people like him at risk. Yes, you can still transmit it if vaccinated, particularly the Delta variant, but the more people we get vaccinated the less chance the virus has to mutate, making our problem worse. just get vaccinated and don't fall for the shills lying to you with pseudoscience
|
| |

people like you are the reason everything is still fucked

"The "medical explanation" is pretty flimsy though"
Thank you doctor

Sorry about your brother, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. However, the argument of protecting the immunocompromised doesn't make sense because vaccinated people are still giving it to others. So with that logic, the most vulnerable aren't even protected if 100% of the people got it who are able. Secondly, there are many horrific side effects that people are experiencing including heart inflammation and brain clots that sometime result in death shortly after vaccination. So telling everyone they MUST get the shot to protect others at the risk of their own health is irresponsible. Just give people the facts and encourage them to talk with their doctor about their own risks and benefits. Suggesting anything else is morally wrong.
|
| |
Gtfo with that nonsense.
|
| |
I got pfizer in my left arm, moderna in my right, j&j in my left leg, and astrazeneca in my right and the only side effects so far are that I'm fucking real life magneto and I'm going to rip the iron in your bloodstream out through your skin if you haven't had at least 3 vaccinations already
|
| |
antivaxers are so frustrating lol i promise you’re not gonna get myocarditis from the vaccine
|
| |
"people like you are the reason everything is still fucked"
no actually, it's not. Many practicing doctors and Bret Weinstein have been pushing for the usage of ivermectin as prophylaxis as that was a route taken in Mexico, where they largely eliminated covid shortly after it took root there. The problem is that ivermectin is out of patent, and is extremely cheap to produce. The influence of big pharma lobbyists is huge, and have suppressed alternatives to any newly developed treatment. Ivermectin has been safely used for over 40 years, and is a strong antiviral treatment. Joe Rogan had Bret and Dr Pierre Kory on his show to talk about this. Any open minded person should listen to the first 45 minutes of that podcast
|
| |
"Gtfo with that nonsense."
Is true tho
|
| |
At least anti vaxxers are a minority. Peeps making excuses for every whack nonsensical government policy are way more annoying at this point
|
| |
Very sad situation
|
| |
@WretchedCacaphony
Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic medication. I use it on my cattle as a deworming agent. COVID-19 is not a parasite. Do not - I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT ingest it for the purpose of treating or preventing the coronavirus.
Also, the idea that Mexico "largely eliminated covid shortly after it took root there" is demonstrably, flagrantly incorrect and it's absurd that you're even claiming this to be the case.
|
| |
People have decided the government really cares about them and all other details contrary to their narrative are censored, shamed, and called pseudescience misinformation. This is despite any evidence that verifies alternatives to the narrative and plenty of evidence contrary to the narrative. Obey your overlords or be ostracized
|
| |
Please don't accept medical advice you hear on the Joe Rogan podcast.
|
| |
You lost me at Joe Rogan lol
|
| |
I am praying he is trolling but don't have high hopes
|
| |
how long till this thread gets shut down?

If you do not get the vaccine you should be shot in the face with a gun.
|
| |
If you don't get shot in the face you should get the vaccine...with a gun
|
| |
We're a beautiful nation full of dipshits.
No the government doesn't give a shit about individuals.
Good thing it's scientific researchers who are largely responsible for developing and continuing to track the vaccine. Anti-vaxxers better never swallow food or brush their teeth because I heard one time that some people actually died in horrible accidents related to both of those activities.
|
| |
"If you don't get shot in the face you should get the vaccine...with a gun"
I'll allow it.

The US has regressed into perpetual adolescence with a corresponding ability to reason. Whatever the cause, it appears to be highly contagious. I'm afraid we're headed to a future dystopia that looks something like Boss Baby crossed with Mad Max.
|
| |
Pretty exceptionalist of you to assume USA has a monopoly on stupidity tbh
|
| |
"Many practicing doctors and Bret Weinstein"
fucking loooooooooooool
|
| |
"Weinstein has been criticized for making false statements about COVID-19 treatments and vaccines.[5][6][7]"
bro this is literally in the bio on his wiki page lmao you cannot be serious
|
| |
Tough situation all around.
|
| |
Nah pretty sure it's the anti-vax folk who are still more annoying. Going to make it hard for a lot of people.
But yeah, couldn't they just have gone with a touring guy? Or have him write material from home and send it in? Seems harsh.
|
| |
Why is it every time an article about a pop punk band happens here it's bad news
"Offspring drummer is antivaxer"
"Brand New frontman is a pedophile"
"Blink-182 frontman has cancer"
"Green Day made a new album"
I know the genre sucks, but jeez it deserves some good news
|
| |
"Green Day made a new album"
lol
|
| |
pretty bad news usually tbf
|

how punk of them...
|

How pop*-punk of them...

Tell me you think lazily listening to podcasts makes you smarter than scientists without saying those words
|
| |
"in Mexico, where they largely eliminated covid shortly after it took root there."
241,000 deaths later, of course.
|
| |
I keep seeing terms like "fired" and "ousted" used, which honestly doesn't seem fitting for the situation. Seems like more of a mutually agreed upon departure given an unfortunate situation than that kind of terminology would suggest.
"I have no negative feelings towards my band. They're doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same. Wishing the entire Offspring family all the best as they get back at it!"
That's not "I was fired, here's my statement"-type language.
|
| |
This reminds me I need to 1.5 their last album.
|
| |
"bro this is literally in the bio on his wiki page lmao you cannot be serious"
Not gonna speak authoritarively to the validity of his comments but those sources are just journalistic pieces and one of them rambles on about the alt right and fucking NFL for half the article before I gave up reading it. Wikipedia is just a reflection of mainstream zeitgeist tbh, they even admit so. It isn't a source.
If it's unproven conjecture that goes in favour of the mainstream it's ignored. If it's unproven conjecture that goes against it it's "disinformation".
Cursory glance at the science suggests it isn't proven either way, but cos it's controversial and science takes a while it's "scientifically invalid". People pull the same shit when it's a political point being made cos this facade of a unitary and complete science is their most powerful tool to dismiss discourse that wades into the political.
That being said, lol Joe rogan
|
| |
People take joe rogan seriously? Fucking hell, what dimwits
|
| |
He's a good interviewer but I once heard him described as the male Oprah which made me lol
|
| |
what a shit reason to be booted from a band
|
| |
People take joe rogan seriously? Fucking hell, what dimwits
Did you know that the Everest is one of the coldest places in the world? ?)
|
| |
Firing him makes no sense considering that he already had COVID and the rest of them are vaccinated. I hope there was another reason
|
| |
According to Dr Joe rogan MD I dont need to get the vaccine since I am hung and healthy.
|
| |
I’m sick right now with covid symptoms thanks a lot joe Rogan
|
| |
> If everyone else is vaccinated, and the vaccine is effective, it literally wouldn't affect them at all.
The typical half-brainer opinion.
> Fuck them, I'm unvaccinated and plan to keep it that way. Shit isn't even FDA approved and now they're saying that vaccinated people can still get and transmit the virus. What's the point if you're young?
And the typical no-brainer opinion.
|
| |
"Sorry about your brother, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. However,"
did you really think that anything you could say after that point would justify your decision?
|
| |
You lost me at Joe Rogan lol [2]
|
| |
Glad smallpox was eradicated decades ago because if that vaccine was created in 2020 I guarantee you we'd be dealing with it for years to come thanks to chuckleheads like y'all.
Since people value the opinions of podcasters over actual scientists, what we really need is for someone to go on Joe Rogan and talk about how, in a recent study, 28% of Covid-positive men now have erectile dysfunction: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33742540/ - talk about firing the offspring.
|
| |
I tried to use ED as a bargaining chip before some dimwitted friends that don't want to get the vax. Fingers in ears, lalalalala fake news.
Having previously contracted covid also does not supplant the need for a vaccine.
|
| |
Comparing covid to smallpox is lol
"Since people value the opinions of podcasters over actual scientists"
No one said listen to the podcaster Joe Rogan. Bret Weinstein is a fringe biologist but still a biologist
"talk about how, in a recent study, 28% of Covid-positive men now have erectile dysfunction:"
Even the discussion says the causation could operate either or both ways. Also that sample size is lol
You want to have good faith arguments but play the same games
|
| |
Dexter Holland please bring back the dreads it's the only way people will even pay attention to the offspring in 2021
|
| |
"You want to have good faith arguments but play the same games"
> complaining about good faith arguments while defending *Bret Weinstein* on a news article about the fucking *Offspring* on sputnikmusic dot com jfc
|
| |
Just accept your take was shit
|
| |
Where’s deathconscious? I want to debate him about Noam Chomsky’s views on vaccines

Woah guys I just came here to ask if their new stuff was worth checking out. I figured all the comments meant they were good again

MY BAND'S GOT A DRUMMER, MAN, WE HATE THAT BITCH

the fact he did that given Dexter's academic background is hilarious
|
| |
Na-na why don't you get a jab?
|
| |
lmao nice
|
| |
> Comparing covid to smallpox is lol
It wasn't a comparison, it was an example you dork. And it was a fair point. Stupid folks are keep refusing (every kind of) vaccines, which is a huge problem.
|
| |
“Na-na why don't you get a jab”
lmao well played
|
| |
"It wasn't a comparison, it was an example you dork. And it was a fair point. Stupid folks are keep refusing (every kind of) vaccines, which is a huge problem."
Yeah everyone with reservations is just a stupid anti vax peasant who would've let smallpox, a disease with 30% mortality rate that predominantly killed kids, run rampant. That conceit is really gonna get people on board and understanding. Chuckleheads. Btw here is a shit study I didn't read. It's about your dick so clearly you should listen to me. Wow such a good point.
Yeah fuck off
|
| |
Play nice, plz
|
| |
I apologise. My mother was a dork so i get sensitive
|
| |
look what you've done Notrap
|

anarchistfish makes a good point though. bret weinstein is a biologist and he was on joe rogan, imagine that CV. dude could have probably cured cancer if only BIG PHARMA even cared about it, huh?
|

Hey here's my magic cock of contemplation

|

"Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic medication. I use it on my cattle as a deworming agent. COVID-19 is not a parasite. Do not - I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT ingest it for the purpose of treating or preventing the coronavirus."
Damn bro, imagine a farmer like my bro here were on the Joe rogan podcast, would destroy his medical credibility
|
| |
what is your opinion of the data that supports hospitalization rates being exponentially lower for people that are vaccinated and catch Covid? just want to embrace the antivax logic
|
| |
Witch hunt.
|
| |
Why are these news threads always so chaotic?
|
| |
> Yeah everyone with reservations is just a stupid
Well, you said it by yourself.
Ofc there are factors which most be considered and must be discussed with a doc (like autoimmun diseases etc.), but if you're willingly (and healthily) against the whole process then you are ignorant and dumb.
|
| |
Where did I say I was anti vax?
|
| |
Who said *you* are anti vax?
|
| |
More than anything I'm against the entire structure of the discourse around the pandemic. Unwavering deference to authority, biased journalism, as well as the scientific mainstream, and the subsequent treatment of science as a unitary subject than as a discursive process (often by people who clearly don't even know how science actually functions) even before we talk about its application to politics. The refusal to acknowledge the present fuzzied border between the scientific and political. The classism, moralising and arrogance that pervades these topics.
And of course, the inability to raise these discussions without being grouped with anti vax loons, guilty of undermining the consensus by pointing out when people say something equally badly considered in favour of it, because people don't actually listen or engage with each other.
I've made my point clear enough at this point. Magic cock signing off
|
| |
"Who said *you* are anti vax?"
I don't know who loveisamixtape was otherwise responding to
|
| |
This thread is longer than any Offspring album thread lol
