Original logo and angel are major recalls to Dawn of Possession. Song is better than anything they've done since 2008, but Ross' vocals are still kinda poopy

"Kingdom's drum sound was worse."

agreed, but this one is so weak and plasticky and clean and weird, death metal drums shouldn't sound like that. it's a crime against all that is evil and heavy. it wouldn't annoy me nearly as much if this wasn't freakin Immolation, ugh

It's not a notion, it's something that's been going on for decades now

Astral Abortis

Again, bands have been releasing singles for decades. That's why you can buy metal band 7" singles to this very day, because they're a consistently existent thing, much more than a notion or conceptual belief

Astral Abortis

Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean they don't exist

Also a single isn't even defined by physical release, it's a promotional track sold or aired individually from an album release. This is exactly that.

Astral Abortis

Sold or aired

Plus it might be being sold on iTunes or something, I haven't checked

Astral Abortis

And yeah every song with a music video is a single if it's released before the album (even after, technically, as the definition for single is more or less boiled down to...single.)

interesting that they have the band logo from the olden days back

so much better mixing than kingdom that's for sure

also basically every immolation song sounds better in the context of the album so you all with the "bland" complaint should prob stfu

well not really it's more splitting hairs if anything, the definition of a single doesn't necessarily imply it needs to be sold as far as I can tell

Astral Abortis

That's also not to mention that music format lingo has changed a lot over the years. I mean the terms EP and LP mean basically nothing in most contexts if you base them off their original intended use, but they've changed to fit the static that is the modern day with its progressing systems and shifting language

solid immolation, but even though im a big fan, another standard immolation record fails to excite me. not with that much going on in death metal
