Thomas Giles Is the Velcro Kid

2016-09-17 by PostMesmeric | 29 Comments
Thomas Giles Rogers, vocalist/keyboardist for Between the Buried and Me, announced a new solo album today called Velcro_Kid, along with a promotional track called "Strangers in a Paranoid Mind." The track seems to adopt a more electronic-focused aesthetic as compared to the metal background of Between the Buried and Me.

The new album is set to release on Sumerian Records on November 4. Navene Koperweis of Entheos is confirmed as co-producer/mixer. Confirmed guest vocalists for Velcro_Kid include Devin Townsend and Jake Troth. Deluxe editions of the album will also include instrumental versions of the nine songs.

Check out the electronic "Strangers in a Paranoid Mind" below.

if it weren't for the vocals this would be pretty interesting

This is quite a lackluster track, but beats anything off the last btbam record

Something weird happened to his voice between Parallax II and Coma Ecliptic (on top of questionable creative decisions). I'm pretty convinced he damaged his vocal chords.

also what the person above me said.

Instrumentation is pretty cool, especially the strings, but those vocals are..questionable

Yeah he sounds unbearable on this track. Got bored of the music after 1 minute.

Unfortunate, I liked his other solo albums. But this song is not good.

Woo! Devin featured for vocals!

I was thinking this was kinda quick but I guess it's been almost two years since Modern Noise came out. I didn't really care for a lot on that album but I'd like to see where he goes on this one. Cautiously optimistic still.

This is my first encounter with any of his solo work and it's not a good one.

I'm a BTBAM fan boy and I like the majority of the tracks off of Pulse and Modern Noise... This is pretty generic, though.

His first solo album is actually really great. It's weird and indie in some spots but once you give it a spin and go back, you find a whole bunch of great stuff. I still jam it often.

I'm super into how weird Tommy has gotten post Parallax 1. I dig this track. Definitely gonna pre-order.

Oh wow, I'm not digging this style at all. I hope the new album offers something different than this because his last two albums are pretty great.

I'm grateful the instrumentals are included, his vocal performances on the 3 songs I've heard are abysmal. Just gonna finish the album with the instrumentals.
