Some of these songs are gorgeous holy shit
| |
This is pretty dull really
| |
About half of this is average TTNG fare, but cuts like Whatever, Whenever, There's No "I" In Time, and Destroy The Tabernacle are freaking fantastic
| |
would like this 100x more if this dude didnt stink at singing
| |
#bringbackstuart
| |
Interesting, both of the bands who changed their names to acronyms to pointlessly avoid controversy, both of then released some new material just in the last few days.
| |
I like it, some songs are more than just the typical TTNG stuff so it's good
@ saying bring back stuart, yeah his voice fit the band more I'd say. but it's not like either of them are exceptional singers
| |
Henry has a great voice what r u all on about
| |
Sounds like he's trying to emulate Conor Murphy of Foxing but he lacks any sort of depth or effective range
| |
everyone wants to emulate Conor Murphy he's a fantastic singer
| |
also really pumped for this. wasnt into 13.0 though
| |
O fuk
| |
Save for the couple of tracks that deviate I found the whole thing quite tedious. Don't really want to listen to complex noodling for 40 odd minutes, it all sounds identical. No emotional depth, nothing to move to. This band needs guns amirite
| |
can't say I can hear the conor similarity at all
| |
Conmaniac it's not as good as 13.0 soooooo
| |
well I guess this is gonna be a disappointment island

Math rock has to be one of the most boring genres
| |
awe ye, checking this asap

"Math rock has to be one of the most boring genres"
Even though I like a fair few bands in the genre I have to agree that 90% of Math Rock is guitarists dick riding really boring techniques (tapping)
| |
tapping is cool in moderation. have to be really good/other interesting aspects for me to listen to an album full of tapping. TTNG did that nicely with Animals though
| |
All I know is TTNG with Stu took several listens for me to appreciate and grow with, while 13 was more immediate but had less replay value.
This one already feels more like the former.
| |
I like tapping, but there's good tapping (eg Animals as u said) and there's really shit soulless woahhhh look at this complex stuff I can play tapping
| |
Tim Collis has a cool playstyle though, since he pretty much solely utilizes fingerpicking + alternative tunings. It's cool that they were influenced by Toe, wish they'd tour together in the US (and LITE isn't on their US tour sadly).
| |
It sounds on par with 13.000. There are some really great songs, but there's just so much needless noodling. I think these guys peaked aat Animals.
| |
It was looking good with the three songs after Animals, before Henry. Adventure, Stamnia, and Anger and Mnspector Iorse are my two favorite songs by them. I still think self-titled is my personal favorite full length
| |
self-titled is by far their best full length and will always be so until (unless?) they diversify their instrumentation and songwriting approach
| |
Listened to this four or five times now. Definitely my favorite TTNG record.
| |
I refuse to use the acronym. Same goes for Andrew Jackson Jihad.
| |
deal with it
