Country legend Merle Haggard has passed at the age of 79 this April 6th due to complications from pneumonia.

Haggard had 39 #1 singles on the US Country charts from 1966-1987 and his influence on the country genre is easily heard through the many artists who have succeeded him.

Country peer and legend Charlie Daniels (famous for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia") had stated: "Country music has suffered one of the greatest losses it will ever experience Rest in peace Merle Haggard."
