The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist quits

2016-02-09 by alarm | 33 Comments
Ryan Knight, the lead guitarist for melodic death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder, has quit the band, according to Lambgoat.

Knight said, "After nearly 7 years with The Black Dahlia Murder, I feel the time has come for me to step down and focus on other aspects of my life. The decision to leave was very difficult, yet necessary I feel for me to ultimately be happy and keep moving forward."

Shame, he was pretty rad.
Brandon Ellis, who played on Arsis' latest record is filling in live.

Damn, that sucks. Abysmal riffs hard. And even though i didnt much like everblack, he was still on deflorate (3rd best behind nocturnal and abysmal imo) and ritual, which is a pretty decent record. Sad to see him go.

Really liked this dude's guitar work, that's a shame.

I hope the new guitarist really ups the ante. Hoping for some insane shredding, tremz, breakneck speed and cavern doom. All with dirtier production. Mmm. I know, im asking for too much.

Glad to see a departure that's (seemingly) entirely good-natured.

From the sounds of things, he's got other things he needs to do and being in a band simply doesn't pay the bills. We all know how badly metal bands are paid nowadays and it's a thankless task.

Really? I would think TBDM makes a pretty decent living. They are at the forefront of american melodeath and easily one of the most popular extreme metal acts, here at least.

Also, sucks he left. Band rules

Wow, didn't expect that. I loved TBDM before he came in, but he really was the icing on the cake for me that turned a good band into one of the best. Definitely one of my favourite metal guitarists nowadays, he'll surely be missed.

Whoever takes up the axe is going to seem permanently inferior after the thought of Pugh joining TBDM now. Damn.

im not really worried, they usually release solid material. and Nocturnal came out before he was in the band anyways, and i think its better than anything theyve done with him.
