Their musical ability seems amateur

also are there any other good post-rocky-with-female-vox bands out there? Because I'm liking what I'm hearing from these guys and I think the female vocals give it something really different.

This is the only one that I've heard. Check out Wilderness.

That's an amazing point zaruyache...

Vocalist needs some serious production help. There are moments where she nails it and other times when she's flat and out of tune. That thick verb is probably covering up a lot of flaws too.

The guitarist sounds like she's using all those pedals and effects to hide the fact that she just picked up the guitar yesterday.

Or maybe they're not trying for some technically proficient, flawless, overdubbed release.

I knew you were going to mention that Zaruyache. I do understand what you said. I just felt that her guitar playing came off a elementary and meandering. I couldn't help but think that she was using the genre as a safe haven to hide her playing ability. Music doesnt have to be technical to be good. Technicality certainly is an important tool in your box though. I find it allows you more avenues to express yourself better musically. I reckon she didn't have many tools to choose from to begin with.

Willie, if they go for a more raw release I expect that they deliver something that compensates in some way. I didn't get any sense of what that compensation was with this song. Regardless of what their intentions were, nobody wants to listen to music with constant and obvious flaws.

For the record, I'm just stating my opinion based on what I heard. I never attacked either of you. I've heard and recorded some amateur bands in the past. All I am saying is, this band reminded me of some of the things I heard when I recorded those struggling bands.

Yay Wilderness was my first review, will do this too when it comes out. Really excited to hear the whole album, this song was a little scratchy here and there but I'm sure it'll sound better on record
