Thom Yorke's new album!

2014-09-26 by SgtPepper EMERITUS | 35 Comments
Surprise, mothafuckas! Thom Yorke has just now released the follow-up to 2006's The Eraser, Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. Yorke's sophomore album follows in the marketing footsteps of step-siblings, The King of Limbs and In Rainbows, in the sense that Yorke has not only caught us off guard yet again, but will also use a new version of BitTorrent to distribute.

But why use BitTorrent, you ask?

"It's an experiment to see if the mechanics of the system are something that the general public can get its head around ..." says Thom Yorke. "If it works well, it could be an effective way of handing some control of internet commerce back to people who are creating the work [...] Enabling those people who make either music, video or any other kind of digital content to sell it themselves [...] The network not only carries the traffic, it also hosts the file. The file is in the network".

Here's the tracklisting:

1. Brain In A Bottle
2. Guess Again!
3. Interference
4. The Mother Lode
5. Truth Ray
6. There Is No Ice (For My Drink)
7. Pink Section
8. Nose Grows Some

Buy the album for just $6 here and you can also download 'Brain in a Bottle' and its music video for FREE:

So how does this work again? I mean, it's a torrent, how is he supposed to avoid non-buyers to leech it?

"lol you can hear every radiohead fan's disappointment miles away in the distance"

to me this means we're closer to a Radiohead album because now Thom has his solo project out of the way and can focus on Radiohead

unless he goes on an extensive solo tour or something

Not digging it so far. It sounds like he comes up with a disjointed beat, and then just mumbles vocals on top of it. Pretty boring tbh

no more electronic for you thom, you've had your fill. now go back to class and jam up some of that extra sweet juice with pulpy beats. thank you very much,

i think it just takes time. i probably would've of agreed with you around the week it came out, and i actually said the same thing about amnesiac. now tkol and amnesiac are like the two albums i often return to. my taste has indeed changed, but i would still argue that tkol is solid from every perspective. it's all a matter of taste though, your opinion is just as valid as mine.

although really, i hope the next album is along the lines of bloom, feral, like spinning plates and like kinetic (amnesiac b side). i want another moody electronic album with sturdy rock tracks like magpie. i doubt they'll go in that direction though.
