Zombie Ass: Favorite Moving Picture Shows (100-91)

Check this link to watch the trailer for the new movie from the director of 'The Machine Girl' (which is great) and 'RoboGeisha' (which I haven't seen but is on Netflix Instant), it's totally NSFW and totally hilarious: http://www.toplessrobot.com/2012/04/super_terrific_japanese_thing_zombie_ass.php Other things of note, this list we'll be the first of 10 favorite movie lists and will hopefully be unique as I've avoided many classics and generally have a shitty taste in movies. And Guide to Country Music Pt. 3: The Outlaws! will be coming shortly. I just read a Texas Monthly article about the rise of outlaw country in Austin and it was real great my favorite detail was the story of Billy Joe Shaver doing a bunch of peyote and thinkin' he was the reincarnated John the Baptist and leading a hippie revival. Opening day baseball: yay!!!

The Grifter's Hymnal

This album's great and some of you guys have gotta check it out. If you're in to down n dirty grit n groove country blues with great lyrics then you must give this album a listen. Top 10 in 2012 easy. Check out the music video for Coricidin Bottle here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu1Y_gt23jM it contains the lyric "she shakes her mortal coil 'round my amaranthine soul" so it's pretty goddamned deep. Also most of the albums from this list will be good 2012 albums.

Nothing?s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me

Movie: "The Mummy" now that they're rebooting The Mummy franchise I thought I'd give a little love to the 1999 Brendan Fraiser starring of the tale. I feel it's a perfect 'dumb action movie you watch any time it's on cable television'. We need movies like this and the '99 Mummy serves that purpose well. song from "Nothing's Gonna Change..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaTX_MjuS1Y&feature=related

Phantom Limb

Movie: "Nightbreed" I actually prefer this Clive Barker movie to the first two Hellraiser films (which are both good and just missed this list) it's got great visuals, the character design is amazing, you got David Cronenberg playing a badassedly evil slasher villian stuck in a crazy hellish horror/fantasy wonderland. You don't see b-movies with this much creativity very often.

Maraqopa

Movie: "Surviving Desire" Nobody did talky indie movies heavy on quirk as good as Hal Hartley.

Agnostic Hymns and Stoner Fables

Movie: "The Machine Girl" It's the kind of movie that compels to enter its world of boob drills, chicken fried human hands, grieving ninja parents, and well a whole bunch of other weird shit, when finally your released your as glad as hell but you're thankful for the cultural experience.

A Drunkard's Masterpiece

Movie: "Ms. 45" Like Death Wish but with a woman and even more awesomer, plus the ending scene at the costume party w/ the girl dressed as a nun and she shoots the guy dressed in drag, yeah that whole scene is cinematic brilliance.
5 Blue Mountain
Dog Days

Movie: "Fallen Angels" This is the only Wong Kar Wai film I've seen and I dig the shit out of it. An interesting character study of lonely, emotionally fucked up people that's stylish as hell and features a bunch of killing.
4Creation is Crucifixion
Automata

Movie: "A Big Hand for a Little Lady" Classic Hollywood western about grifters, card sharks, etc. I've watched this film w/ my grandma at least 3 times prolly more so it's gotta lotta nostalgic value for me.
3Townes Van Zandt
Be Here to Love Me

Movie: "Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt" Great documentery about a great songwriter.

Movie: "The Funhouse" So much about this movie is bad (i.e. the characters, most of the dialogue, worst 'last girl' in the history of horror cinema) but the atmosphere is just perfect. Plus no slasher had as interesting and tragic as a killer as this movie. I just love carnivals so this movie hits the sweet spot for me so I have no problem overrating it.
