Weekly Albums #1
Decided to expand my musical tastes by reviewing albums every week. List is albums I've been rlistening to this week (in order of preference). If you want, rec. similar albums/albums I should rrhear for next week. |
1 | | Envy All The Footprints You've Ever Left...
Fantastic album. All the Footprints You've Ever Left... is the first Envy album I've heard but I've
been listening to so much La Dispute and Pianos Become The Teeth that it
already seems familiar. I wish more bands would scream in Japanese... |
2 | | Merchant Ships For Cameron
I am so fucking happy I found out about these guys. And track 4 (Sleep Patterns)
sounds like it came from a Here, Hear collection. Amazing. |
3 | | Suis La Lune Heir EP
Props to Sweden for this one... only four songs on this EP, but I'm ready to hear
more. The vocals are the highlight for sure. |
4 | | Sufjan Stevens Illinois
I avoided this album for a long time, and now I'm not really sure why... Totally
worth listening to. I'm still trying to digest all of it, it has 22 tracks, but so far it
gets my thumbs up. |
5 | | Midwest Pen Pals Inside Jokes
Midwest Pen Pals, William Bonney and Park Jefferson are all comprised of ex-members of Merchant Ships (as far as I
know). Of the three, Midwest Pen Pals is my favorite. Honestly, they all sound
pretty similar (not in a bad way) but I think lyrically Inside Jokes is the strongest. |
6 | | Young Fathers Tape One
It's hard for me to get into hip hop and rap, but this album was pretty powerful.
The production is great and it's a pretty short/manageable release. |
7 | | William Bonney Good Vibes
Not much to say, pretty solid album, I'm not sure I'd listen to it more than a
couple of times though. |
8 | | Japandroids Post-Nothing
When I first listened to this I was not so into it... but it's growing on me a little.
It might just need more listens. |
9 | | Park Jefferson Weekdays
Another pretty good, not great album. From what I've read this also isn't Park
Jefferson's best, and I think I'd be willing to try another one. |
10 | | The Dodos No Color
First time I'd heard of The Dodos and I am not a fan... I even listened to this
twice to try and get into it, but it just falls flat. The album name is extremely apt:
No Color is the epitome of average. |
