03.07.11 | Each genre corresponds to their number. N/A denotes a number without a genre.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/genreindex.php?genreid=
Paste the url into your address bar. Type the number of the genre you desire to access at the end of the address, after "=": for example, black metal is 48. The URL would be "http://www.sputnikmusic.com/genreindex.php?genreid=48."
An asterisk* denotes a number that accesses a genre page that, while it displays the genre name, has no content other than the name. Example: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/genreindex.php?genreid=57 |

03.07.11 | i'm off school, i just ate a massive carnitas burrito, and i'm really bored. i was fooling around with this earlier, so i thought to myself, "hey, why not make a useless list about it?" |
accompliceofmydeath
03.07.11 | They used to actually have direct links to these subgenres back in the day. Back thanks for all of the help. |
InFiction
03.07.11 | Wyankeif, you're a magician. |

ButcheredChildren
03.07.11 | Maniac! knows all |
Deviant.
03.07.11 | No I agree, I thought everyone knew this. or that you could get to a certain genre page through your pie chart |
wyankeif1337
03.07.11 | i thought that most would probably have a general idea of how to do this, but that it would be helpful to make a list that gives the number for every genre. |
Spec
03.07.11 | Grind doesn't work. |
ButcheredChildren
03.07.11 | I used to pie chart it, still will cuz I use last.fm to explore music of the other genre's |

03.07.11 | "Grind doesn't work."
hence the *, read the last part of the 1st comment |

03.07.11 | I thought it was common knowledge too, but I didn't know you could edit a number to get a new genre; good job wyankeif.
Although I never use the genre pages. |
Aids
03.07.11 | wow thank you so much for doing this, I hate trying to find a pie chart to find the genre page |

03.07.11 | What is much easier to do is to click on a slice of the pie chart which is the genre you want to look at. |
Willie
03.08.11 | As long as the genre is on your pie chart -- you don't generally read all the comments before posting; do you? |
CelestialDust
03.08.11 | hombre, northhouse que tal |

Ovrot
03.08.11 | the fuck
Mind = Blown |
gabethepiratesquid
03.08.11 | Haha, I've known this since I was a member of this site. You can also access these if you click on a genre in a profile's pi chart. |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | there is a goregrind page but it was way too brutal for the list editor to handle, it just disappears every time i try and type the number. |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | and the point of this is that one's access with the pie charts is limited. with this, instead of having the 5-ish genres in your chart and having to browse everyone else's for the other 40-ish genres, you just have a url for each one. |
Ovrot
03.08.11 | That thrash page seems lonely :( |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | get a thrash review featured |
Ovrot
03.08.11 | I have a huge review for an album in mind that i might actually put effort in. Still might not get featured. |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | post it anyways. |
xenocide.
03.08.11 | Pages with (*) are not completely void, they contain some news and show popular albums. |
elephantREVOLUTION
03.08.11 | sweet, on the post-hardcore genre page i can see all the defeater reviews without all of that other crap in the way!!! |
couldwinarabbit

Acanthus
03.08.11 | You do have a ton of time, thanks for the info though! |
WeepingBanana
03.08.11 | back in the old days if you'd hoover your mouse over each genre, the sub genres would drop down and you could click on them which would access the page. then eventually if you clicked on a genre all the sub genres were in the upper right corner of the page. |
Aids
03.08.11 | shut up grandpa |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | "Pages with (*) are not completely void, they contain some news and show popular albums."
they are on my browser... to which ones are you referring to? |
wyankeif1337
03.08.11 | nvm, they show news and popular album but no comments or review. sorry, i should've clarified. |
thatoneguy726
03.09.11 | While we're on the subject of popular albums, what on EARTH determines those rankings? I always thought it was digs, but then one time the number three slot had like 50 more digs than the number one. What is it?! It can't be number of recent ratings or comments because then stuff like Ke$Ha would always be up there. |
wyankeif1337
03.09.11 | once again, i know that many people already know this. i made this list because i feel that even for those who know how to do this it would be convenient to have the numbers for every genre listed somewhere. |
Emim
03.09.11 | There just needs to be either a link to a list of supported (adding would have to be approved) genres, or a genre search.
Unless there already is one, in which case carry on. |
