Crap Albums Of 2009

Not neccasserily a "worst of 2009" list, but a list of Albums that were really poor under the circumstances. Read deions for reasoning
1All Time Low
Nothing Personal

I listened to this having being led to beliee that it was "top quality pop-punk." What I found was an album that sounded more like Metro Station than anything, it's fair to say I was dissapointed. The choruses that try so so hard to be catchy simply aren't, and the glittery production all but hides the albums few redeeming qualities.
2Chris Cornell
Scream

Chris Cornell, singer in legendary grunge band Soundgarden goes R n B. It's as bad as it sounds. It's easy to point a finger at producer Timbaland for his generic beats and shiny production, but ultimately the blame must lie with Cornell, for writing such woeful songs and laughably poor lyrics.
3The View
Which Bitch?

I found it baffling that this album got so much praise from critics. Two slightly above average singles aside, the record is a mess. I wasn't a fan of their first either but it was certainly better than this.
4The Enemy
Music For The People

I enjoyed their first album, and they are a good live band, so this second record came as a big dissappointment for me. In reaching for arenas, their sound became bloated, sucking out all the energy and urgency that made their debut a success. The worst aspect of the album though are the blatent cases of plagarism, which at times are laughably obvious.
5Rx Bandits
Mandala

One of the albums that was recieved really enthusiastically by sputnik that I just can't get my head around. I just can't find anything special here, and I found a lot of it quite dull. For me, this was one of the most forgettable albums I heard this year.
6Muse
The Resistance

Without a doubt the biggest dissappointment of 2009. The singles were underwhelming, especially Uprising, but within the album lay far greater horrors, namely I Belong To You and Undisclosed Desires. The album wasn't awful, but for the first time, Muses ludicrousness went too far, as shown on monumental flop Exogenesis.
7Editors
In This Light And On This Evening

I enjoyed their first two albums, and the lead single Papillon, despite being extremely repetative was promising. The rest of the album though was terrible, with the band trying, and failing to embrace electronics. The album's flaws are there for all to see live, where its songs are painfully boring, crumbling in comparison to the bands earlier work. Also you know there's a problem when the first song - little more than an intro is among the "highlights" of your album.
8Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage [II]

It's a long time since I've heard an album that bored me as much as Killswitch Engages third. Every song was painfully generic, with no outstanding features whatsoever. I wasn't expecting much but this was worse than I had feared.
9Green Day
21st Century Breakdown

I was one of few that praised this upon release, and I still believe that it is ultimately a good album. It could, however, have been so much better. The concept of the album and the lyrics are simply ridiculous, it's about 20 minutes too long, and many of the songs are essentially re-writes of Green Day classics. A highly flawed return.
10Little Boots
Hands

Having being haled as this years best new artist by pretty much everyone in the UK, I felt I had to give her album a listen. Remedy is one of the best p[op songs of the year, but it stands out like a sore thumb among the rest of the material, which was bland, overproduced and generic. Her follow-up must be better or she is destined to be forgotten.
