Jon Anderson
Otis Redding
Sting
Milton Nascimento
Prince
John Wetton |
Divaman
01.08.21 | Hmm, Tom Waits. I think he has an interesting voice, and it's effective for his material. But he'd also be on a lot of people's worst male voice lists. |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | Cool people dig Tom Waits. That's a fact |
ReturnToRock
01.08.21 | Where the frickety frick is Freddie Mercury? You can't have a list like this without including Freddie!
Also, Louis Armstrong (technically not the greatest, but one of the most unique voices, well, EVER), David Coverdale and Robert Plant would all have a case for earning a spot here. |

01.08.21 | Cool list
I'd add Garry Shider and Gene Ween |
ReiniEden
01.08.21 | You have Mike Patton but no Kyo from Dir En Grey. |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | I love Ween I would have never considered Gene when making this list tbh. What makes him so great in your opinion? |
ArsMoriendi
01.08.21 | I see him as a vocal chameleon. He can convincingly do soul (Freedom of '76), punk (You Fucked Up), and country (You Were the Fool). He's mimed everyone one from Elliot Smith (Baby Bitch) to Lemmy Kilmister (It's Gonna Be a Long Night). Ween might be such a genre hopper of a band because of Gene's abilities in vocals. Maybe?
Sure he uses a lot of vocal effects, especially on their early stuff, but when he doesn't, he sounds fantastic by his own merit. Dean Ween's a pretty average singer though of course... in fact Dean's voice while usually fitting, is pretty underwhelming |

01.08.21 | Interesting. I can see where you are coming from |
ArsMoriendi
01.08.21 | But also Garry Shider: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt3GM2AzwSE |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | Do you have some good live performances by Shider? That's a main criteria for me. If they suck live that's a no no |
Divaman
01.08.21 | Digging Waits isn't the same as saying he has a great voice, though. It's the same with Bob Dylan. |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | I think Waits has an awesome voice. On top of that he is really fucking awesome live. What you gonna do about it? |
Valkoor952
01.08.21 | Freddie Mercury not being here with the presence of a few of these admissions is kind of laughable yeah |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | good ol' Freddie |
NorthernSkylark
01.08.21 | I prefer your females, but this has Jeff so its obv nice. Thom yorke has his moments too I think. Van Morrison also. |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | I find Thom Yorke's voice kind of annoying. Van Morrison isn't quite my thing either. It's all good though |
BenThatsMyJamin
01.08.21 | lol reefa you spent 5 pages in the grace thread arguing about how jeff wasn't one of the greatest |

Divaman
01.08.21 | Say you're mistaken? (About the voice, not the live thing. I never saw him live, so I'll take your word for it.) |
ReefaJones
01.08.21 | Michael Stipe lol no
I have to confess though. I totally forgot Freddie Mercury. Whom shall I kick from this list in order to make place for good ol' Freddie. I'm thinking either Mark Hollis or Paddy |
