DarkSideOfLucca
12.02.19 | I'll probably add a few sentences at least for each item at some point when I'm not working today. |

12.02.19 | Solid list, I still am not a huge fan of It since I think most of it could have been chopped out especially a lot of the stupid kid adventures that add nothing to the plot. But house of leaves is such an amazing book, so happy to see it on here. |

12.02.19 | I'm reading the Elementals right now and am blown away. Didn't think there was really such thing as a scary book, but it's proved me wrong. I'm going to read The Flood (also by Mcdowell) next. |
BeyondCosby
12.02.19 | I don't agree with Frankenstein. It's a classic, but it's more science fiction or philosophy than horror. |

12.02.19 | almost done with IT and i don't think it's that great
i have read Dracula and didn't think it was that great
i've read Rosemary's Baby which i thought was great
and i've read The Exorcist which is my favorite of them all, why isn't that here? |

12.02.19 | I guess it's not a strictly horror novel but World War Z is fantastic |
DarkSideOfLucca
12.02.19 | @aj/budgie - Yeah, to be fair the last time I read It was many years ago. I remember it being incredibly flawed, but the horror elements were so good (from what I remember as a youngin) that for me, that made it one of the most memorable horror novels I read. Definitely my least favorite on the list, though.
@Beyond - Yeah I mean it's science fiction/philosophy but to me it's also definitely horror. Digging up the graves/bringing back to life is straight horror galore. It's creepy in a very different way.
also @budgie - Haven't read the Exorcist yet!!!
@Squirrell - Yeah WWZ was very fun, but to me it wasn't horror enough and prob wouldnt make my list anyway.
@ADLutz - Fuck yeahhhhh Elementals is scary as hell. Hell House was the most insane for me personally (minus that ending, ugh) but House of Leaves made me feel like I was actually losing my mind lol |

12.02.19 | books r 4 reeding :) |
BeyondCosby
12.02.19 | @Lucca yeah that stuff would be creepy but it really doesn't play a huge role in the book. It barely describes the building of the monster, much less anything truly horrifying. Frankenstein is really just a book about a mopey scientist. I was not impressed by it haha. |

12.02.19 | Glad to see you've got #8 in here. That one is often overlooked. |

12.02.19 | Came for house of leaves, was not disappointed |
gryndstone
12.02.19 | Curious as to whether or not you've read Misery and if so, if you would include it as horror |

12.02.19 | Hmmm... I'm not seeing Intensity by Dean Koontz on this list. This is problematic. |
budgie
12.02.19 | hey art what is that koontz book about the aliens |

12.02.19 | Not sure. What is it? |

12.02.19 | I'm not super familiar with DK, but Intensity is worth a read if you're even remotely into slashers. |
BAT
12.03.19 | the exorcist is excellent, only one i've read here is the shining and although i'm more partial to the movie it's a fun 'pageturner.' i've been trying to get into clive barker i've had weaveworld sitting for a whileeeee. |
budgie
12.03.19 | ya lucca you gottttttoooo read the exorcist asap |
DarkSideOfLucca
12.03.19 | I mean some people don't consider it horror and say it's 'technically psychological experimental' yadayada, but fuck that lol. That book had sequences of genuine spooky moments (the house literally swallows people, encompasses darkness, etc), plus how the narration was structured was beyond unsettling and scary (to me). I'm including it lol
And fuck, guess I'll order The Exorcist book. Can't believe I haven't gotten around to that yet. |
