Tigers Jaw, The Sidekicks and Cave People

Saw Tigers Jaw Thursday night with opening acts The Sidekicks and Cave People. It was the first night of Tigers Jaw's 10th Anniversary Tour for the release of their self-titled album. They played a set of newer stuff, then came back and played the self-titled album from beginning to end.

The crowd loved them, and sang along with every song when they did the second set where they played their self-titled album from beginning to end. They sounded good, although Ben Walsh's vocals were a little low, and Brianna Collins' were so low you could barely hear her at all. On the up side, they played "Escape Plan", which came in at #7 on my list of Top 20 Songs of 2017, so I was happy about that.

The sound was pretty good for them, and they were easier to hear than Cave People, probably because they're a rockier, more upbeat band. Their quirk was several songs with jarring mid-song speed changes.

They're a kind of quiet 4-piece. They sounded good, although a lot of their songs have these weird, abrupt endings. They're pretty self-deprecating and likable, though.
