10.16.17 | I absolutely loved Blade Runner. Also Baby Driver and Kingsman 2 were a lot of fun. Edit: oh yeah Logan [2] loved that too. |
PayneTiger777
10.16.17 | So many great movies this year. Blade Runner 2049 is one of the best science fiction films I've ever seen. John Wick 2 is one of the best action films I've ever seen. Logan, Wonder Woman, and IT were awesome as well. |

zaruyache
10.16.17 | raw is on my shortlist thanks to netflix. Apparently there were a ton of acclaimed horror films this year that I also need to check out. |
JeetJeet
10.16.17 | Raw might just be the best horror flick I've seen this year, right next to The Void. Both movies made my stomach turn, which isnt easy to do. |
Deathconscious
10.16.17 | want to see A Cure for Wellness, Baby Driver, Blade Runner, Kingsman 2, Logan, Passengers...also want to see Ghost In the Shell. im not expecting much but im curious.

10.16.17 | Gerald's Game |

10.16.17 | A cure... is pretentious
Baby driver is just ok
Blade runner came out to be my biggest disappointment in months
Logan is cool
Did not see ghost in the shell however it seems to have a nice 'neon' imagery and style |

Blade Runner has nice´neon´ imagery and style. |
matbla00
10.16.17 | I saw raw on a festival, my (low) expectations were met- not really worthwhile |
matbla00
10.16.17 | Oh, stop it. sure it does, and I loved the cinematography, scenography, visuals at large. I even did like the way it was shot. The script and the message, triviality of the film, was however disappointing (and so was Ford) |
Astral Abortis
10.16.17 | Yup. A film can look beautiful in every way and still be a bad film because of bad writing. People seem to think direction or style trump everything else. No, I need good writing. |

10.16.17 | I can't say, I haven't seen it yet, but if it's anything like the original, it'll be a hot mess. |

10.16.17 | I loved the original, even wrote a paper on it for my philosophy course (analyzing the personhood and the issue of rights in the film) and the new one was a bummer |
JeetJeet
10.16.17 | A Cure For Wellness and Raw were excellent wtf. And Logan was pretty meh tbh |
Faraudo
10.16.17 | "2049 has excellent writing"
It does. This seems to be a case of "i'm gonna diss the new one just because the first movie is a cult classic."
Give 2049 10-20 years, and it will become a classic, too. It'll probably age even better than the original. |
matbla00
10.16.17 | Btw there exists a black and white version of Logan, I think it was in limited distribution in the us. The photos are really great, recommend y'all to have a look at them |
matbla00
10.16.17 | I will come back here tomorrow (actually today but pm) and explain thoroughly why the sequel sucked (a little) and is only a solid production while the original was a masterpiece |
Faraudo
10.16.17 | Raw was "ok" in terms of story, cinematography and performances; but again, it dissapointed me quite a lot in terms of gore. I read an article that said people were storming out of theaters and puking with certain scenes and whatnot. Even Gerald's Game grossed me out way more than Raw, that one very gory scene near the end had me on the edge. |
Astral Abortis
10.16.17 | I watched the original Blade Runner right after reading the novel, so I kinda hated the film. Because I haven't read the book or seen the film in quite a few years now, I might be less averse to the film if I watch it again. I'm gonna come back to the original Blade Runner and see if I can enjoy it on its own merits. Then I'm gonna watch the new movie and see how it holds up as a sequel.
Then I'm gonna read the book again and realise that everything about the film is bad. |
JeetJeet
10.16.17 | Geralds Game was good. Hell even great, until it jumped the shark at the end. |

New film is great and never relies on nostalgia, unlike plenty of sequels, like The Force Awakens, for example. |
matbla00
10.16.17 | There were a few 'indie' films this year ( e.g. A ghost story) that deserve a shot |
Faraudo
10.16.17 | On that we agree, A Ghost story is a great film. |
Astral Abortis
10.16.17 | "Geralds Game was good. Hell even great, until it jumped the shark at the end."
The ending is what turned that film from merely "great" to "one of the best horror films of the decade". |

10.16.17 | Remember that one scene about rising up against the humans that came up in the middle of nowhere and has nothing to do with the rest of the movie and clearly was intended to set up some kind of Matrix-style sequel?
Not to mention the occasional hand-holding on the part of the screenwriters |
Futures
10.16.17 | in the middle of nowhere? what? hand-holding? literally what one flashback i think. |

10.16.17 | the potential war is mentioned before tho, and that prostitute's storyline also shows something else shady is going on, so I didn't find the writing there to be that shaky. It better justifies what Deckard was doing in the desert besides just scavenging old casino whiskey and listening to Elvis. |

10.16.17 | the first two-thirds of blade runner are excellent and the last third really disappointed me. none of the characters' motivations are clear (why is there a triangle conflict when there are only two sides: save/preserve the kid and kill the kid) and the happy ending, with the snow and the glass, is so stock that it killed me. the original bladerunner raised all these interesting questions about humanity vs. android whereas the second pushed that aside and just assumed robots as a second race. so much of the film is absolutely gorgeous though - the fight scene in the casino made the entire movie worth watching, even though the resolution (oh this guy isn't affected by punches. i guess he's a robot too, let's have a drink) is dumb as hell |
zaruyache
10.16.17 | Uh the robot guy wants the child so he can experiment on her to build himself a slave army; the resistance wants her to lead then to freedom. Kind of different sides. |

10.16.17 | Baby Driver is the most fun I've had watching a movie this year

10.17.17 | 1. Blade Runner 2049: Disliking it makes you a snobby hipster that can't be satisfied with anything. It is an incredible movie and it really hurts me to watch it's box office numbers. Best sci-fi movie of the decade, at the very least.
2. Logan.
3. It Comes At Night.
4. It.
5. Baby Driver. |
Faraudo
10.17.17 | Also, how can anyone actually say that there's no "new themes" introduced on the film. I mean, the main plot point establishes (SPOILER ALERT) replicant pregnancy as a thing. An android has an actual child. |
Astral Abortis
10.17.17 | "I mean, the main plot point establishes (SPOILER ALERT) replicant pregnancy as a thing. An android has an actual child."
Sounds like a bad plot |

Faraudo
10.17.17 | "Sounds like a bad plot"
I actually found that pretty interesting, I've never thought about it, nor have I seen it elsewhere.
"I’d say Logan is the one to watch"
It is an incredible movie, and almost a tie with 2049.
