05.19.17 | How many times are you going to change the title of the thread? |
Stereochrome1
05.19.17 | Until I find one I like. I've only changed it twice |
danielito19
05.19.17 | is that your sister in your proifle pic? |
grannypantys
05.20.17 | wait im confused. What's wrong with Trump? |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | well for starters hes dumber than Bush. |
InFlamesWeThrash666
05.20.17 | which is pretty impressive |
Satellite
05.20.17 | "What's wrong with Trump?"
well said. |
G0atC0re
05.20.17 | wow, an anti-Trump track. So edgy... |
ScuroFantasma
05.20.17 | Way to contribute to the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | having any kind of opinion, wow, how edgy. |
AnimalsAsSummit
05.20.17 | never heard anything anti-trump before, this should be crazY |
ScuroFantasma
05.20.17 | Good song |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | Cool I guess we're not allowed to have a political stance without being mocked. Awesome.
And no that girl was my girlfriend who I was with for 2 years that left me the other day. I guess I should change that picture. |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | ScuroFantasma - thanks for thinking it's a good song |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | nobody bitches about 80s punk and their criticisms of political leaders. i dont get why people get all crotchety about newer music that does so. |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | I have no clue. Other than my shitty stance of politics, apparently, I hope people just like the music we create then. |
SharkTooth
05.20.17 | Is a cliche to hate Trump. You could just as much be pretending to hate the president because you want to look cool as you might legitimately dislike his politics. It's too mainstream to be even considered "punk" |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | as if a lot of the things they were talking about in the 80s werent mainstream? being mainstream has nothing to do with whether something is punk or not anyways, its a music genre. and you could be pretending to hate anything so, that argument is kind of invalid. |
danielito19
05.20.17 | yeah it was a good song for sure. sorry to rib you stereochrome - hope you're doing okay |
rhinocerosmilk
05.20.17 | I can't wait for the dumbass to get himself impeached, so people can go back to ignoring politics again, while the rest of the government keeps fucking everyone over. |
AnimalsAsSummit
05.20.17 | 80s punk hates on the system itself, leaders are just pawns for billion dollar organizations, everybody fuckin knows it cmon now qwit playin |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | The system is fucked. The president is fucked. The caustic social divide is fucked. That's what our album is about. It's a concept record that follows a semi-dystopian story with some similar characters to Trump. So in essence this song is directly at Trump and the system that allowed him to be elected. |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | It's fine danielito19. I'm just having a hard time with it but I'll live. As George Jones says - "If drinking don't kill me, her memory will." |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | "80s punk hates on the system itself, leaders are just pawns for billion dollar organizations, everybody fuckin knows it cmon now qwit playin"
so the reason the lyrics were acceptable back then is because they spoke against the "system" as a whole instead of just a piece of the system? thats not true (there are plenty of songs from back then criticizing smaller pieces of the system), but even if it was, its kind of a weird place to draw the line. |
AnimalsAsSummit
05.20.17 | trump is just straight meme now. criticizing him or praising him equals meme, and it just comes off as corny. if male rompers and fidget spinners are punk now, then yeah sure this is punk as fuck lol |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | "if male rompers and fidget spinners are punk now"
ok? pretty sure nobody said that. dont see how its relevant. |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | im not even arguing about whether this is punk or not anyways. i was wondering why people here are ok with 80s political punk but get all crotchety over contemporary political music like this. |
Dedes
05.20.17 | Man I own like 3 fidget spinners and I don't even have ADHD I'm such a fucking rebel |
Dedes
05.20.17 | But yeah an anti trump song sounds typical but of course if there's valid good criticism in the song than who fucking cares? |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | You could tell me if the criticisms were more valid than I could. Since they are our own criticisms. |
hal1ax
05.20.17 | well, i think a lot of the old punk anti-establishment rhetoric was being voiced by somewhat of an outnumbered counter-culture, whereas today, promulgating anti-trump discourse is nearly ubiquitous, especially among the more prominent and outspoken individual's; you hear it among movie//tv celebrities, musicians, etc. etc. I'm not saying this opinion is wrong, or that modern political critique has become impotent or something, it just doesn't feel all that interesting anymore. |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | So anyway - the song. |
DoofusWainwright
05.20.17 | when does 'Anti-Trump Protest Rock' get its own sput genre tag? |
Stereochrome1
05.20.17 | I bet most you didn't even listen to the track. |
Deathconscious
05.20.17 | Sputs a tough crowd. |
Spec
05.20.17 | anti trump song daaaaamn don't cut yourself with all that edge |
butcherboy
05.20.17 | I just listened to it.. |
Stereochrome1
05.21.17 | And? |
Deathconscious
05.21.17 | I think his comment implies all you need to know. |
butcherboy
05.21.17 | well no, okay, so as to not be a total prick - it's a decent enough stab at radio rock.. vocals don't work for me, but I never like that kind of clipped pitch in male vocals.. the atmospheric breakdown could have been the best part of the song, but isn't cracking enough.. i don't know, I like that it's spacey, but it's muse spacey and not ziggy stardust or spiritualized spacey.. all that said, last time I recorded, it was garage punk passed through a tin can, so our aesthetics tastes are obviously polar opposites.. keep doing what you're doing, all the world's a critic. Bueno? |
butcherboy
05.21.17 | You guys do lock into a decent groove..
Shot yourself in the foot with the Trump thing though.. |
Stereochrome1
05.21.17 | Well, sorry to disappoint. |
botb
05.21.17 | I like this. Well done. |
EphemeralEternity
05.21.17 | dude. this is risky business maligning your president like this. If you wake up tied to a chair with a damp rag over your mouth slowly succumbing to pseudo-asphyxiation then you cannot say you weren't warned. |
butcherboy
05.21.17 | You got your fans, don't you? People show up to your shows.. What's it matter what some jackoff says online? Gotta get a thicker skin on the internet.. |
bakkermaarten007
05.21.17 | Think about Trump what you will, but if you're anti-Trump and you're hoping for him to get impeached you will get Pence as president. Just let that sink in. |
MonotoneMop
05.21.17 | You're not allowed to voice beliefs and opinions unless they're original. If it's an opinion that a majority has voiced before, your music is bad. In conclusion, Donald Trump is the shape of punk to come.
Good job dude. It's good. |
Gnodab
05.21.17 | people saying he's edgy and unoriginal for making this song, yet they don't seem to realize how edgy and unoriginal they are by saying that
|
EphemeralEternity
05.21.17 | ^ that's pretty edgy and unoriginal also |
Gnodab
05.21.17 | using the word edgy in ur sentence is basically edgy |
Stereochrome1
05.22.17 | Never the point to be edgy |
JustLikeBart
05.22.17 | I'm in StL. You have dates coming up? |
