02.09.16 | I have the m50X's on right now at work, the 40's are great as well, excellent choice. |

02.09.16 | props for the icelandic rep here |

02.09.16 | I've been using m50x's for about 6 months now and love them, hope the 40's are as good for you! |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | I read up about the 40x and 50x's and the difference in quality just didn't seem to warrant the difference in price. In fact, some people actually seem to prefer the 40's (although I imagine there's a question of personal preference involved).
Either way though, looking forward to hearing what they sound like :) |

02.09.16 | Thanks man. My recent listening has been pretty much 90% Iceland. Can't get enough of the stellar material they keep putting out. |

02.09.16 | Never tried audio technica's before. Been using a pair of Grado's for the past several years and I love em. |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | I've heard good stuff about Grado as well but the hype for AT is so widespread that I had to hear them for myself.
Been using the Klipsch over ear model for the past 5 years or so and was generally happy with them although their bass can be a little too much sometimes. |

02.09.16 | My friend had a Klipsch theater system in college that was fantastic. i like Grado's but I tend to wear headphones all day on the job and they aren't very comfortable cans. |
hal1ax
02.09.16 | Heh I have the opposite complaint regarding my Grado's. Highs and mids are excellent but the low freqs are lacking. |
hal1ax
02.09.16 | And ya my Grado's are not comfortable at all. Probably my biggest complaint with them. |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | The M40X's are supposed to be ridiculously neutral which was a big draw to them after having bass-heavy headphones for so long. I just hope it won't be too much of a switch to get used to but I figure it's easier to add bass to neutral headphones if need be than it is to remove it from headphones that favour it too much. |

02.09.16 | i recently bought some Sennheiser Momentums and theyre pretty good. made me realize that i need to start getting higher quality music though haha |
elcrawfodor
02.09.16 | Agreed with JWT that m50x's are super comfortable, I'm a college student and when I'm not in class, I'm wearing headphones for hours in the library. Feel perfect! |

02.09.16 | "i recently bought some Sennheiser Momentums and theyre pretty good. made me realize that i need to start getting higher quality music though haha"
Haha yeah I went through that cleanse when I got by Klipsch phones years ago. Most of my digital library is 320kbps MP3's at this point.
It's been rubbing off on my gf as well. When I first met her, she played a shitty youtube rip of Schism in the car and she didn't notice anything wrong with it. So I put on the 320mp3 (taken from the cd) that I had on my iPod and watch her little world change right there in the car |
Conmaniac
02.09.16 | yeah i have gotten rid of those youtube rips long ago but whenever i download music i just search the album name with "zip" or "rar" at the end of it. I've been doing this for awhile but I never really check the quality. noticing some albums are a bit off compared to others. might give in to Spotify or start torrenting idk aha. |
50iL
02.09.16 | I use my M30x's all day, everyday. They never get old. Audiotechnica is certainly the best headphone brand out there, I've never had any complaint about any of their products. Good choice. |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | Yeah, when you download a rar/zip of an album you get what the person who created the file uploaded. Could be anything from 60kbps to 320.
I started using Soulseek for my downloading a while ago and haven't looked back |
Conmaniac
02.09.16 | hmm what's Soulseek? might look into that |
JWT155
02.09.16 | "They never get old. Audiotechnica is certainly the best headphone brand out there"
Eh that title is easily held by Sennheiser. |
50iL
02.09.16 | @JWT155 I personally prefer Audiotechnica, but each to their own I guess ;) |
hal1ax
02.09.16 | Slsk is all you will ever need. Unless you are gunning for like 24-bit vinyl FLAC rips, which in that case you may need to try and gain membership into a private torrent community like what.cd |
Conmaniac
02.09.16 | does soulseek have a lot of artists? like variety wise |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | You'd be hard pressed to find something that isn't on slsk. Happens once in a while but it's pre rare |
Conmaniac
02.09.16 | cool. will download soon. thx for ur guys' help |
SCREAM!
02.09.16 | It tells you the bit rate of the files you're downloading too which is awesome. You can almost always find a 320kbps version of the album you want |
ScuroFantasma
02.10.16 | Awesome list man, I'll make sure to check the ones I haven't heard yet, have you given Carpe's first a spin? |
Sinternet
02.10.16 | Personally i'm a big sennheiser fan but audio technica are still an amazing brand. At the moment i'm using Sennheiser Urbanites which are decent but still a bit too much focus on the bass than i would like, so maybe Momentums in the future would be decent. Of course if I could ever afford them, a pair of the new Orpheus models would be nice :^) |
Keyblade
02.10.16 | got the m30x's myself for over a year now (damn it's been that long). you wont regret ur choice dude. superb headphones |
SCREAM!
02.10.16 | @Scuro I haven't! I'm guessing you'd recommend it? |
ScuroFantasma
02.10.16 | For sure, I love it |
emester
02.10.16 | Bro Phillips SHP-9500s
But yeah I do feel when in regards to the Law Of Diminishing Returns, the M40x's crap on the M50x's |
SCREAM!
02.10.16 | Never even heard of those ones :D
Tbh though, I had to learn what all the AT hype was about though so it would've taken something with pretty stellar reviews (and reasonably priced) to convince me to buy something else |
emester
02.10.16 | They are probably the best open back cans you can buy under 200 bucks. (Better than Senn 598's and most Grado's IMO)
And they only are around 75 bucks on amazon |
