08.26.15 | Karajan's ones are always good, haven't heard that one so can't really say, but yeah. |

08.26.15 | karajan is a talentless hack, would stay away from |
Sevengill
08.26.15 | Bohm, as a conductor, seems the most dramatic and his performance the most celebrated. Karajan, on the other hand, has the most highly-regarded singers at his disposal. I'm probably going to get all four eventually, but start with Bohm and Karajan (sorry tree). |

08.26.15 | yeah i have not listened to the recording in question i can only judge based on karajan's reputation |

08.26.15 | why the hate on karajan if I may ask? |
treeqt.
08.26.15 | because he doesn't conduct a composer he conducts a karajan |
Sevengill
08.26.15 | If Karajan is so bad, how did he manage to become one of the preeminent conductors of the 20th century? Surely someone would have pulled the plug if he was just ruining piece after piece. |

08.26.15 | why don't you go listen to the new luke ryan album. it has to be amazing or people wouldn't buy it to first place of the billboard album charts right |
Sevengill
08.26.15 | Because classical music enthusiasts are /supposed/ to care about the quality of the music, unlike...whoever luke ryan is. I assume a country singer because the name luke. |

08.26.15 | isn't everyone /supposed/ to care about the quality of the music ^_^ |

08.26.15 | some genres tend to be more about image, unfortunately. |

08.26.15 | Looks like Karajan's reputation is for creating too polished a sound and sacrificing the intimacy and nuance of the music. I don't have much to go by, but it sounds great so far.
My favorite of the ones I've recently purchased is Mahler's #2 (Bernstein). His #8 (Symphony of A Thousand) is just wall-to-wall climax, though it's a thrilling climax. |

09.01.15 | Wagner is underappreciated on sputnik |
Sevengill
09.01.15 | Classical is underappreciated on Sputnik, it seems. As is most jazz, though the people who are into it seem to be very into it. |
