10 Albums That Need More Ratings

10 great albums that very few people other than myself (and in some cases, just me) have rated. Some of these I plan on reviewing in the summer when I have more time to write non-class related things, but until then here's the list.
1Kidneythieves
Trickster

Genre: Industrial rock Current Ratings: 15 Average Rating: 3.7 My Rating: 4.0
Their best album, in my opinion. Free Dominguez has a great voice, and she adds a
lot to the album. I don't think it would be as good with a different vocalist. One
complaint about it is that sometimes the guitar's production subtracts from the
heaviness instead of adding to it like it should.

2Standish/Carlyon
Deleted Scenes

Genre: Downtempo Current Ratings: 2 Average Rating: 4.5 My Rating: 5.0
I'm not really sure how to describe this. It's dark. It's relaxing. It's fun. It's sexy. It
manages to bring a retro and futuristic sound at the same time.

3A.N.O. vs. Shadowx
Paragon

Genre: Chillstep? Current Ratings: 1 My Rating: 4.5
Shadowx is a friend of a friend, and collaborated with A.N.O. to make this EP. It's got
a lot of piano mixed with ambient soundscapes and occasional dubstep (not really
brostep I don't think) parts.

Genre: Middle Eastern Folk/Electronic Current Ratings: 8 Average Rating: 4.0 My
Rating: 4.5
Traditional Middle Eastern instruments, Sufi poetry, and electronic elements (I usually
see it described as trance but I'm not too familiar with electronic subgenera) combine
to make an interesting and enjoyable album. I randomly bought this from Borders
years ago but never really appreciated it until about two years ago.

5Whorecore
Headless

Genre: Grindcore/Death Metal Current Ratings: 1 My Rating: 4.5
I'm not well-versed in grindcore, but this album got me interested in exploring the
genre more. It's heavy as fuck, but not overly abrasive.

6Eager Sea
Canvas

Genre: Post-hardcore/Emo Current Ratings: 1 My Rating: 4.0
I still don't know when or how I got this album, but it was on my laptop and I listened
to it and it ruled. It puts a big emphasis on atmosphere/soundscape. Athom knows
these guys and was in a band with them before, too. So that's cool.

7THC
Adagio

Genre: Trip-Hop Current Ratings: 1 My Rating: 4.0
Their second (and last) full length album, I heard about this because their music was
used for a band in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The album has two types of songs:
vocal-centric and beat-centric. I prefer the vocal ones by a little.

8Smalls.
Expecting The Worst

Genre: Pop punk Current Ratings: 2 Average Rating: 4.3 My Rating: 4.0
Female fronted pop punk that doesn't rip off Paramore. Catchy and energetic, it's a
quality debut EP. The moments of interplay between the male and female vocals are
my favorites on the album, so I chose the song with the most.

9Makeout Party
Lengths and Limits

Genre: Alternative rock/Emo Current Ratings: 1 My Rating: 4.0
They remind me of Modern Baseball, but with the emo toned down a bit and the
alternative turned up. They're not together any more, sadly. But somehow this CD
ended up in a used music store I go to.

10Ingrid Michaelson
Slow The Rain

Genre: Indie pop Current Ratings: 4 Average Rating: 4.5 My Rating: 4.5
All of her albums have a low number of ratings, but her debut has the least. Unlike
her other albums, this one is piano driven. I prefer this sound to her later one. For
me, this album is one of those that I can just listen to it on repeat and not get tired of
it at all.
