11.07.13 | Dude, pretty damn rad. Not at all what I was expecting just based on the band name (books and covers and w/e).
I know musicians don't usually like people comparing them to other bands, but I got a real Microphones vibe from this, which, I mean, they're awesome so you should take that as a compliment. |

11.07.13 | Really nice climax, and the fade out drone-y part at the end was fucking swee. if I had any criticism to offer it'd be that it lacks some of the dynamism that a lot of the quintessential bands in the genre have. That's not even necessarily a bad thing, though, plenty of bands can pull off the even keel, relaxing mood (washed out comes to mind, probably because the vocals were pretty reminiscent to what you guys did), just a personal preference of mine. |
Blind
11.07.13 | yeah we all dig The Microphones! that's definitely a compliment. and thanks for the feedback! do you think the music would benefit from more post-rock influence? we started very folk-y but we're branching out
and i haven't heard of Washed Out; i'll have to check them out |
skeames1214
11.07.13 | I like the mix you've got going, but once you're comfortable enough playing in that space I'd throw in some tempo-shifts, some more dynamic vocals, maybe try a couple different time signatures, stuff like that. I think you've got the aesthetic and the general feel of the music down, which is the hard part (i've never been able to do it).
Washed Out aren't really similar except in regard to the vocals, but they're good if you like shoegaze. |
Blind
11.07.13 | yeah i definitely agree. we haven't experimented a ton with less conventional time signatures and dynamic vocals and stuff; we only have a few songs on the album that really stray into that territory but i'd love to explore it more |
skeames1214
