| Best Electronic Music
A list of my personal favorite ambient/electronic/techno/dub/whatever ralbums of all time. In no particular order. | 1 | | Biosphere Substrata
This album made Biosphere a legend. Incredibly atmospheric and haunting.
Recommended tracks: Everything. | 2 | | Woob Woob 1194
Brilliant stuff. Fantastic synthesizer, percussion and vocal samples by Paul
Frankland, very moving. "On Earth" is one of the greatest single tracks ever. | 3 | | Gas Pop
Mesmerizing. An underwater rave, then in a forest and on a mountain. | 4 | | Biosphere Cirque
Grievously underrated. Genius percussion-based ambient-dub album, atmospheric.
Conjures up a unique mood. Special credit go to "Le Grand Dome" and "Too Fragile
To Walk On." | 5 | | Deepchord Presents Echospace The Coldest Season
It's cold. It really is. | 6 | | Tetsu Inoue Ambiant Otaku
I hate using the world "beautiful" in regards to music, but this is an exception.
Genius ambient house. | 7 | | Global Communication 76:14
Indescribable. Sorry, but you simply must hear it. Totally unique and inimitable.
Recommended: "12:18," "7:39." | 8 | | Yagya Rigning
Great album. Ethereal, more "floaty," perhaps, than "The Coldest Season." Soothing. | 9 | | The Future Sound of London Lifeforms
Wow. What's there to say? Organic techno/dance with outstanding variety. Catchy
and quirky. Recommended: "Eggshell," "Vertical Pig," "Among Myselves." | 10 | | Gas Gas 0095
The single catchiest electronic album imaginable. Great electronic effects,
especially on "Microscopic" and "Mathematics and Electronics." | 11 | | Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works 85-92
A revolutionary, groundbreaking work. Recommended: "Green Calx," "Tha." | 12 | | Brian Eno Ambient 4: On Land
Amazing and varied instrumentation. A genre-definer. Recommended: "Tal Coat." | 13 | | Steve Roach Dreamtime Return
This is the single best Berlin School ambient album, great tribal elements.
Recommended: "A Circular Ceremony," "Towards The Dream," "The Continent." | 14 | | Various Artists em:t 0004
Great variety of tracks, especially good work from Sub, High Skies, Andy Hughes,
International Peoples Gang. | 15 | | Tim Hecker Harmony In Ultraviolet
Glitch electronic, strangely beautiful in its desolation. | 16 | | Tim Hecker Ravedeath, 1972
Far more refined than "Harmony," eerie, decaying. | 17 | | Steve Roach, Kevin Braheny, Michael Stearns, Richard Burmer Desert Solitaire
Welcome to the desert, courtesy of some of the biggest names in ambient music.
Recommended: "A Story From The Rain." | 18 | | The Higher Intelligence Agency and Biosphere Polar Sequences
Innovative live collaboration between two innovators, creative use of samples and
beats. Recommended track: "Cimmerian Shaft." | 19 | | Robert Rich & Lustmord Stalker
The scariest album of all time. Period. | 20 | | Pete Namlook & Mixmaster Morris Dreamfish
Amazing synths from the prolific FAX label boss. RIP Pete Namlook. | 21 | | Steve Roach and Robert Rich Strata
Surreal, hypnotic synths, if you want tribal ambient, this is it. Quite disturbing in
parts. Recommended: "Mica," "La Luna," "The Persistence of Memory," "Forever."
One of the best collaborations of all time. | 22 | | Band Album | 23 | | Band Album | 24 | | Band Album | 25 | | Band Album | 26 | | Band Album | 27 | | Band Album | 28 | | Band Album | 29 | | Band Album | 30 | | Band Album | 31 | | Band Album | 32 | | Band Album | 33 | | Band Album | 34 | | Band Album | 35 | | Band Album | 36 | | Band Album | 37 | | Band Album | 38 | | Band Album | 39 | | Band Album | 40 | | Band Album | 41 | | Band Album | 42 | | Band Album | 43 | | Band Album | 44 | | Band Album | 45 | | Band Album | 46 | | Band Album | 47 | | Band Album | 48 | | Band Album | 49 | | Band Album | 50 | | Band Album | 51 | | Band Album | 52 | | Band Album | 53 | | Band Album | 54 | | Band Album | 55 | | Band Album | 56 | | Band Album | 57 | | Band Album | 58 | | Band Album | 59 | | Band Album | 60 | | Band Album | 61 | | Band Album | 62 | | Band Album | 63 | | Band Album | 64 | | Band Album | 65 | | Band Album | 66 | | Band Album | 67 | | Band Album | 68 | | Band Album | 69 | | Band Album | 70 | | Band Album | 71 | | Band Album | 72 | | Band Album | 73 | | Band Album | 74 | | Band Album | 75 | | Band Album | 76 | | Band Album | 77 | | Band Album | 78 | | Band Album | 79 | | Band Album | 80 | | Band Album | 81 | | Band Album | 82 | | Band Album | 83 | | Band Album | 84 | | Band Album | 85 | | Band Album | 86 | | Band Album | 87 | | Band Album | 88 | | Band Album | 89 | | Band Album | 90 | | Band Album | 91 | | Band Album | 92 | | Band Album | 93 | | Band Album | 94 | | Band Album | 95 | | Band Album | 96 | | Band Album | 97 | | Band Album | 98 | | Band Album | 99 | | Band Album | 100 | | Band Album | |
