The New Power Generation were a Minneapolis-based funk band that formed in 1990, originally as the backup band for the
legendary musician, Prince. The group eventually released a few albums that featured little input from Prince, showing off the
group's stability without him. In 2009, it was announced that the group would officially be dropped from being the official backup
band for Prince, and it can be assumed that the group split shortly after.
