Whales of Pearl Peak is predominantly composed of Alternative Rock songs (with Post Rock/Emo influences) with vocals and palm mutes that present themselves in a very pop punk-like fashion. Like with so many other bands out there, the Calefaction find themselves in an interesting position. The vocal delivery is rather sloppy, awkward, and far from impressive. Them, along with the shoddy production, keep the album from being interesting. The instruments really pull the album together, however, the band does not seem proficient enough to keep things lastingly interesting.
