Review Summary: The band's least appreciated release

The Milk Stories, the one-man-band run by pop culture icon Dancecake, have had their fair share of number one albums. However, it seems the mainstream have little taste for true art, as The Milk Stories' most popular albums are full of mere pop songs, while this concept album filled with thoughtfully written songs barely made it to Silver status.

The album tells the story of the Bible, ranging from the creation of the Earth in Genesis ("Creation") to the life of Jesus Christ ("Son of God"). The album does skip a bit though (every book in the Old Testament after Exodus other than II Samuel), but that's hardly noticeable.

The first 4 songs are about the creation of Earth and Adam ("Human") and Eve ("Meet Eve"). It also goes into detail about how they were kicked out of Eden ("Serpent"). From there, we are thrust forward hundreds of years to the Tower of Babel ("Tower of Babel"). Afterwards is the track "Filler." At first listen, it seems like a completely mindless side-ender, put in just to fill time, but I think it may have a deeper meaning. The song's title, "Filler," may refer to the story of Noah, with God "filling" the earth with water. The song itself doesn't support my theory, however.

The beginning of side two starts out with the timeless story of Abraham ("Abraham and the Jews"). While not telling the same, timeless story as the one in the Bible, it is still interesting. Following is Abraham's grandson, Joseph ("Joseph and His Tricked-Out Coat"), which features the best instrumentation on the album. Next, Dancecake makes an odd choice, putting the song "David Pwns Goliath" before the song following "Moses FTW." This of course goes against the order in the Bible, but it sounds better musically. "David Pwns Goliath" is my favorite song on the album, though I may only think so because I love the cover by Cusp. The final song on the album is "SON OF GOD," and it is by far the most powerful. This five minute long epic is the perfect way to end the album.

This album should have been much more popular, but the mainstream audience doesn't want to think. I hate this, I'm moving to Canada.
